This was done in the light of recent intelligence inputs which indicated that a large number of infiltrators have gathered along the LOC and border in Pakistan.

A news channel recently aired pictures showing a border fence which was cut open on both sides, indicating that infiltration has begun again.
Also the recent firing by Pakistani troops indicates that they are providing cover fire to infiltrators.

So these troops are being deployed along the LOC, to increasing patrolling.
