Pragya Thakur named in defence ministry panel
NEW DELHI: A controversy erupted after Malegaon blast accused and BJP MP from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur was nominated to the parliamentary consultative committee of the ministry of defence.

According to the government notification dated October 21, the 21-member parliamentary consultative committee is headed by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh.

Thakur, who defeated Congress heavyweight Digvijaya Singh in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, also featured in the committee.

The 21-member parliamentary consultative committee also includes the likes of opposition leaders Farooq Abdullah, TMC's Sougata Roy, DMK's A Raja and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.

The Congress on Thursday hit out at Union government over nomination of Thakur in the parliamentary consultative committee of the ministry of defence.

Congress secretary Pranav Jha said, "It is irony that such a person has been named in the defence panel by the government."

"Bringing such people, against whom the cases are going in court is not good for democracy. Everything is not guided by the Constitution but some decisions are taken on moral grounds too," the Congress leader said.

"The BJP had won 303 seats and they have multiple options and many of whom are clean, with no cases against them. They should have been nominated in the defence panel," Jha added.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections Thakur had courted controversy with her remarks on a number of occasions.

She had landed in a major controversy when she called Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, a patriot.

The BJP had issued a showcause notice to Pragya over the remarks.

Thakur had also stirred controversy by saying that then Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare had died during the 26/11 terror attack because of her "curse".

worship of power and they feel secure that's how..

Accused =/= Convicted
First accuses then convicted but under BJP Govt suddenly file a review petition and got out of jail and even won the election.

Arrest and trial
Mumbai's Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) claimed that Thakur formed a group to take revenge for the 2006 Mumbai train bombings and that her motorcycle was used in the bomb blast. This motorcycle was a key evidence in the arrest of Thakur.[23]

On 19 January 2009, Maharashtra Police filed a 4000-page charge sheet for the Malegaon blasts. According to this charge sheet, Lt Col Prasad Purohit was claimed to be the main conspirator who provided the explosives and Thakur arranged the persons who planted the explosive. It was claimed that on 11 April 2008, Thakur and Purohit met in Bhopal wherein both agreed for co-operation in carrying out the blast.[24] However, the charges framed against the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act were dropped for Thakur in July 2009 because Thakur was not proven to be a member of this organised crime syndicate.[25]

Swami Aseemanand in his on-camera confessions named Thakur as one of the key conspirators in the 2008 Malegaon, Ajmer Dargah, and Samjhauta Express terror blasts.[26

Nothing surprising.

Sanghis will claim she is not convicted. Neither was Modi, neither was Advani and neither was Vajpayee.

If you want to detail a thread title; keep it original to the most as like original article.

Hardly a news, worth a thread. Their government is replete with criminals, from top (Modi) to bottom.

True

Malegaon blasts happened by themselves, Samjhota express got burned by itself and Gujarat pogrom 2002 never happened. People simply killed themselves for fun

That is sanghi logic for you
