I do think Modi is a danger to our democratic rights but I still have a right to call him what I want without having full state security come down on me.

Well, as we speak, the Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan who had gone to BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh state to report on the case of the gang rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Hathras, that journalist was kept jailed despite ill health. He was jailed just for daring to report on that case. From this article :

Kappan’s medical reports, submitted at the Supreme Court, claimed that he tested covid-19 positive on April 21. He sustained injuries after slipping in the jail bathroom. When he was admitted at a private hospital in Mathura, doctors attending on him disclosed that he was also suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and heart ailments.

His lawyer Wills Mathews and the Kerala working Journalists’ Union had moved an application to the apex court seeking an order to shift him to any good hospital in Delhi for better treatment.

His wife Riahana Kappan had alleged that he was chained at the hospital and not being allowed to go to the washroom. She had also written a letter to the Supreme Court Chief Justice requesting his immediate release on medical grounds.

Kappan was arrested in October last year along with three others when they were on way to Hathras after gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old dalit girl. He has been lodged in Mathura jail since then.

The UP STF has filed a chargesheet against Kappan and seven other PFI agents in Mathura Court slapping sedition and other charges under Sections 124 A, 153 A, 295 A of the IPC along with UAPA and IT Act.

I read that in a article arundhati Roy wrote in the guardian the other day that's why I think modi a danger. But overall he will not be able to turn india into a one part dictatorship . Congress no saints i remember a neighbour of ours was locked up during indira Gandhi's attempt to rule uninterrupted in the 70s it failed and if modi try the same he will fail. This nothing new during my younger days the crackdown in my state I saw so many undemocratic events but democracy is not going to lose. Trump I suppose looked at governing a country the same way that he ran his business - in the most capitalist way.

About Modi, most of his voters are middle class I think and that really shows the intellect level of a lot of our countrymen. Watch the two vids in this post of mine. About Modi's "Didi O Didi", that was cruder than some of Kapil Sharma's jokes.
