The election observers of India, Nepal, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have expressed their satisfaction over the election process of 11th parliamentary polls in Bangladesh.

The observers on Sunday afternoon said the elections were peaceful and organised.

Neighbouring India sent a three-member team to Bangladesh. “We’ve observed the elections in the different places. Bangladesh Election Commission has finished the elections in an organised and clean manner. We found a festive mood in the polls,” said Ariz Aftab, visiting chief electoral officer of India's West Bengal in a press conference at a hotel in the capital.

The Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also held a press briefing at the same hotel. The OIC high-level election observation team led by assistant secretary general of the OIC Hamid OpeloyeruIndia visited several polling centres.

“We visited the voting centres at Wari, Munshiganj and Narayanganj. We are satisfied seeing a peaceful atmosphere and spontaneous presence of the voters,” said Hamid OpeloyeruIndia.
Asked about the deaths in the election violence, the OIC leader said the incidents can be said as sporadic incidents. “The incidents of death are accidental.”

About the credibility of the elections, Hamid said the election officers worked timely and in a disciplined manner.

If these international standards are met, it means the elections were credible, he addded.

The OIC leader also said he saw agents of the AL, BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and Workers Party at the polling booths.

At another press conference, two members of Nepalese election observers said as they had a curiosity on EVM voting, they observed election processes at Dhaka-6 and Dhaka-13. The team leader of the Nepalese observers, Dependra Kandal said the election atmosphere was fair and uncontaminated.

On the other hand, Canadian citizen, a representative of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), said, “I’ve so far visited five centres. I’m proud of being a witness of this election. I saw voters cast their votes at every centre with joy.”

Knew it. This election was free and fair. US doesn't wanna see AL in power due to its close relation with China. Hence, its using BBC to spread propaganda regarding the election.

BBC is known for being the stooge of USA.

I doubt it ! I just do not want to comment as my brain is not working lol.

@Nilgiri Come here and read the news ! I am not sure what the hell happening !

@Neptune_ , I wanted a full contest of election and defeat of BNP , so that Fakhrul can be stronger and replace khaleda Zia as leader . But it's not Khaleda Zia but BNP is vanished, and so fakhrul is screwed up!

They are directed to polling areas, and just a few ones at that (consider how many polling stations there are in total.)

To gain any credibility there has to be observers at enough polling areas to make a difference...and also randomly assigned across the country.

Also India, Nepal, OIC and "Saarc"....they mostly have vested interests already in one of the parties.

Actually I asked @Mage but maybe you can tell me how many polling stations are there in BD as a rough figure during the national election?

Nah it's not possible for me . I was never interested in election before this time . And also in this election my interest was only as common people! So do not know about it .But maybe you can find it on internet.

Edit : @Nilgiri , I found it . There are 40000 polling center in Bangladesh .

Right so if you visit 10 or so...or even 100, you can comprehend the relevance of the observing overall....especially if it is not randomized.

I studied statistics quite deeply, you can do very limited sampling to still have a very credible survey result (in fact it often surprises people just how few you need to sample to get a 95 C.I etc)...but the absolute key thing is the sampling has to be very randomized and non-biased! i.e opposite of sending few observers to known BAL strongholds that you have organised in advance etc (in fact you can probably tell me if you know, what are the historic voting tendencies of the polling areas the observers visited, im pretty sure they would be pro-BAL).

Vote fixing/engineering etc only matters in the end in sensitive swing spots (which you can simply not direct international observers to) and exploited by FPTP sensitivity too....and how much you do in clear "opposition held/anti-incumbency" areas is just gravy on top (and I suspect that was done to some extent too, to get BNP just winning 3 seats dayum!).

Yes I am sure they will be pacified by winning 6 compared to 3 lol.

It would have mattered I guess if there was 10 seats in total in BD parliament heh.
