Hyderabad: A delegation of Muslim leaders urged Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or by a sitting High Court judge into Tuesday’s killing of five Muslim under-trials by the police.
The delegation led by Hyderabad MP and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi met the Chief Minister at the secretariat on Thursday and demanded an independent probe.
Later Asaduddin told the reporters that the Chief Minister also expressed regret over the incident and asked for three days time to get all the details of the incident.
“We asked the Chief Minister how a person with handcuffs can try to use a gun as the police are claiming. Such feats are possible only in Rajnikant’s films”, Asauddin Owaisi said.
Delegation including Moulana Abdul Raheem Qureshi, President Muslim United Action Committee drew the attention of the Chief Minister to tell tale evidence of Nalgonda incident being a fake encounter.
“All the five under trials were chained to their seats and their hands were cuffed,” they told the chief minister.
Meanwhile the post mortem on the bodies of the five slain including, Viqaruddin Ahmed, by the forensic experts revealed that they were fired upon from point blank range and shot were fired at their heads and temples.
The leg of one of the victims was found broken by a blunt object.
Four of the five victims were buried amid tight security in Hyderabad. Tension prevailed in Sultan Shahi area of the old city as some irate youth pelted stones at police officers after the burial of one of the victims.
No one has claimed the body of the fifth victim Izhar Shah who hails from Uttar Pradesh.
