India keen to buy six more C-17 planes:

seems that India wants to build the 70% of its transport fleet of U.S made planes.

Country of origin is of little concern to GoI/IAF these days as long as they get the best possible equipment for their forces. It seems in the case of C-17 and C-130-30J deals the IAF have got the very best they could want/need for their requirements.US aren't stupid enough to put sanctions on India these days.

Dont come to that conclusion yet.. MRTA deal with Russia might happen soon..

But there are no signs of Indo Russian deal, but there is a high chance that IAF may have 30 C-130Js along with 30 C-17s by 2025....

They have excellent reputation in delivering their promises within time.

As long as we keep their restrictions in mind! :azn:

Please calculate again!

6 (+6) x C130Js + 10 (+6) x C17s vs a minimum of 45 x MRTAs
If the Chinook will be selected it will be 15 vs more than 150 x Mi 17s
Ka 226 is still in the run for 197 x LUH (although with low chances imo)

The workhorses of IAF transport fleet will remain to be Russian, Indian or European origin, while US aircrafts will be added mainly in special roles. Since they are available now for us, it would be silly to not use this advantage, at least as far as the terms and conditions are justifiable.

Very true! Although I'd say C-17 order will more than certainly be increased to 20-30 and given by the rumbles in MoD/IAF the C-130J could find many more orders from IAF over and above the 12 for SOAR to be used in utility roles. Not to mention BSF/Indian Met office and ICG are all very interested in the platform. Also Chinook deal is more than likely to double and Ka-226 has almost 0 chance of winning LUH.
