India joins majority to vote against US move on Jerusalem

That is true, Modi visited Israel several times this year.

He visited just once I think. The other visit was Indian president....and maybe some other visits by some other ministers.

Modi has visited Israel before, but not as PM.

Alright so India just spat in Israel's face, why exactly?

Spat in their face? lol. How is exactly not acquiesing to Trump's decision to change the status quo regarding his countrys (final executive given the senate and house already passed the motion way back in the late 90s) position on the matter (capital of Israel) spitting in Israels face suddenly? It simply continues the precedent as far as the UN non-relevance goes.

India - Israel in case you didnt know are committed to their bilateral relations development (hence the significance of an Indian PM visiting Israel recently for the first time ever in history), out of sight and out of connection with the general assembly globalist kumbaya drama....

We have voted "against" Israel at the UN (just like UK, France, Germany and other far more traditional allies of Israel have done so and did this time as well)....Israel fundamentally gets the distinction between globalist optical drama and DE FACTO reality...and how its friends and allies operate in that buffer....there is much that matters much much more going on away from the UN to begin with.

Sorry to say but the UN means next to nothing here....and on pretty much anything else too.

India had no choice, they have 200 million Muslims, if they voted for Israel their country would be torn apart.

If Modi and the Hinutva brigade had their way, they would be helping Israel to build settlements in East Jerusalem.
Modi visited Israel (far far more significant than UN drama voting), breaking all previous "protocol" w.r.t Muslim domestic sensibilities etc.

The country is very much in one piece thanks.
It won't be in near future hopefully.

Alright so India just spat in Israel's face, why exactly?
Fear of being alienated in the whole world and especially the Muslim world even more especially Iran. Millions of indians work in middle-east. Also there are around 200 million Muslims inside India. So Modi unwillingly decided to vote in favour of the resolution. He will seek forgiveness from his masters in the private and do whatever it takes to make them less angry.

Personally i thought india should have just abstained being the flag bearer of non alligned movement.

Why abstain and not support your ally Israel? Cowardice?

Agreed with you. India kicked Israel in the face with this resolution.
Something I hate to admit, but India did something right for once.

India is a cunning nation. They will put their interest above anything else. Don’t think India voted out of charity. They would walk over the Palestinians if they could. They didn’t because apart from Trump many oil rich Arab nations were also watching. India didn’t have a choice.

Its independent foreign policy,
By Your logic, India should not have ties with Iran because 90% of Muslims in India are Sunni,
By your logic India should have demilitarized Kashmir because it will torn country, Palestine is far away.
Indians (sane one :P) stand with govt whether Kashmir / or other international issues

Agreed the oil rich Arab countries are watching too.

Must be so hard for the indian envoy to do this. Since 80% of indians would have disapproved of it, it is a futile exercise by india.

Indian let there very own Indian Niki Halley down

what a moron this women is reminds me of c class property estate agent.

Discarding all Ifs and Buts in this discussion, all please understand, the relationship between India and Israel has nothing to do with the decision. India did it because it was the RIGHT THING to do. India has always supported solutions based on negotiations between Israel and Palestine. why should this time be any different?
It was wrong on USA part to make such a move. Might is not always right
