Ways to strengthen military ties and sale of Japanese amphibious aircraft to Indian armed forces are expected to be discussed during the meeting of the Defence Ministers of the two countries in New Delhi in New Delhi.
The two countries are also expected to discuss the regional security scenario during the meeting between Defence Minister AK Antony and his Japanese counterpart Itsunori Onodera against the backdrop of the recent tensions between Japan and China on East China Sea issue, defence ministry officials said.
Onodera is on a four-day visit to India and is expected to meet the top political and military leadership of the country to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral military ties, they said.
During the discussions, the Japanese side is also expected to raise the issue of sale of Japanese US-2 amphibious aircraft to the Indian armed forces to guard their island territories.
India and Japan are also expected to regularise maritime cooperation and hold joint exercises. Last month, the Japanese and Indian Navy held joint exercises in the Bay of Bengal after the maiden exercise was held off the coast of Tokyo in 2012.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is also expected to visit India later this month

Japan's PM Shinzo Abe likely to be chief guest at Republic Day
hence this is an awesome opportunity for India and Japan to come closer.. The technological achievements and learnings is something which is very important for both the sides.. Very few ppl realise that Reserve bank of India had increased Dollar Yen Swaps size in order to increase yen borrowing for big corporates... good banks like ban of tokyo, Mizuhho Bank etc are already doing good work in providing corporate lending to industries at competitive rates and ECBs too..Even Mumbai Metro ahs many things from Mitsubishi Corporation

We should utlise the knowledge of technology and use it for new developements..we shud invite Japan for Delhi to mumbai freight corridor project and new investments for industries.... also we shud learn more from Fukushima incident so that we also have additional protection protocols and strategies from natural disasters

In defense, US-2 will be an awesome strategic asset for India.. More Joint exercises should be there.. Mr Abe is a good economist and had turned around Japan in last 5 years after the massive earthquake.. Japan even being in active earthquake zone had done wonders with hard work, sincerity and dedication...

Hope the meeting is fruitful for us

India is inviting Japanese PM to Republic day celebrations.

This is a symbolic gesture of deepening economic relationship between India and Japan.

India is expecting massive investment from Japanese and at the same time Japan is trying to revive its brands which are in losses these days in Indian market.

This is a win - win situation for both the economies

more than defence we need their expertise to develop infrastructure...

:cheers:japan should contribute more towards indian defence
