India - identity crisis of 1.4 billion people

I have met Indians who live abroad having an identity crisis. They saw themselves more British or American than Indian lol.

It's easy for Indians to adopt new identities since 'Indian' itself is an adopted identity.
300 years years ago a Marathi or Oriya person didn't know they were Indian. 300 years ago a Gujarati didn't know that he is actually Sem2Sem as us Bengalis.

.
But they found the West Indians first ?
And named them after the Indians , who they had never met ?

They made a mistake. So what ? Which place in North America is called India ?

you dodge the basic point - they wanted to head to India. They found a way. India was not Sind as couple of turds on this forum claim.

That’s why they correctly identified Native Americans as Indians.

Wrong. They never called any individual groups as Indian. They are called by their tribal names - Cherokee, Arawak, Mayans

Amazing there is no place called India in North America

Neither did a resident of Rome, Florence or Milan was called Italian. Neither was a resident of Hamburg, Prussia, called as German,
There was nothing called Indonesian, Filipono, Malayasian or Singaporean

you seriously need history lessons

That's what happens when you talk with half-baked knowledge.

Italians from Rome or Florence or Milan identified as Italian speakers 300 years ago. Their language was Italian, not Roman, Florencian and Milanian.
Germans don't call themselves German, they call themselves Deutsche. Even before establishment of modern Deutschland, they identified as Deutsche speakers for hundreds of years. It's this Deutsche pride that led to the unification of all Deutsche areas except Austria.

European have very strong native identities, they didn't need foreigners to define them.

They never called themselves Deutche land. Prussians were Prussians. Hanseatic League was the Hanseatic League.
Nobody called themselves Italian.

They never called themselves Deutche land.

Now you're putting words into my mouth.

Btw, why do you think all the Deutsche speakers united under one kingdom? Just a random thing or they were aware of their Deutche identity? Take your pick.

Nobody called themselves Italian.

Son, their language is Italian, regardless of regional differences they all know they are Italian speakers. They always did.

What do you think they speak in Switzerland and Austria ? The foolishness is on display

There was nothing called Indonesian, Filipono, Malayasian or Singaporean

What do you think they speak in Switzerland and Austria ?

I will answer your question once you answer mine, as I asked first. Why did all Deutsche speaking areas, except those that were part of Austro-Hungarian empire, unify as one Kingdom?

It still does not include Switzerland

You're not answering.

No he asked a difficult and logical question and you decided to take a escape route.

When faced with difficult questions, they always throw tantrums and cry bloody murder, yet after 9 pages and hundreds of posts, no one was able to provide a single quote from these greetest anshiant raitings identifying their land as India/Sind/Hind.

You're not answering.

German speakers united to form their empire in response to French and British empires
What is so hard about it ?

Tell us about Indonesian, Filipono, Malayasian or Singaporean

No he asked a difficult and logical question and you decided to take a escape route.

If India has an identity crisis I would expect Indians to ask that question

.
German speakers united to form their empire in response to French and British empires

You mean they correctly identified that Deutsche speaking people are a nation that's distinct from their French, British and Polish neighbors?

Well that solves it. So they were aware of their Duetsche identity even before their kingdom was formed.

No foreigner had to teach them who they were.

Foreigners like Napoleon and British had to teach them by kicking their rear end in wars

So Duetsche people are Deutsche because Napoleon and British kicked their ***. Lesson taken.

.
No lol , you keep backtracking and making up excuses .

There was no india prior to the British , it was named india as a colonial name after the Indians from the west . The original Indians are the tainos , who have mostly died out .

West Indians name came prior to the East Indians being named .

It is a colonial name which was used to used to subjugate the masses by its masters the British .

The West Indians of British commonwealth are now slowly moving away from the name the British used to colonise subjugate & enslave them with but the Indians from the east are still proud to be named after their master overlords .
Nothing wrong with this but this is where the name india came from .

The only country which calls india with its rightful name is Pakistan which uses bharath
I don’t know what Bangladeshis call india but would be interesting to find out .
what was Pakistan called prior to 1947?
