NEW DELHI: India has major problem of hunger which has caused large-scale child malnutrition. The global hunger index report of Washington-based International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) ranks India at 100 out of 119 countries, three notches down from 97 last year.

India's rank of 100 is lower than even its poorer neighbours such as Nepal (72), Bangladesh (88), Sri Lanka (84) and Myanmar (77). China has a far higher rank of 29.

Impoverished countries Djibouti and Rwanda share the 100th rank with India. Surprisingly, even North Korea and Iraq are ranked higher at 93 and 78, respectively.

India is doing good but doing at slower pace.There are dozens of countries worse than India.And Yes India might have highest umber of poor cause India has huge population.Are you seriously comparing with low populated countries like Nepal or Iraq?

Stop looking at people flags before shouting mate. Pakistan number in the same article was 106, and all other neighbours have lower number than India, good one them. However, Pakistan number was higher and that was selectively left out. All the other stuff you mentioned is off topic so I won't respond. Calling India pariah is far away from truth.

Also the article is from Indian newspaper, the heading of which is "India's hungry children: Even North Korea, Iraq, Nepal, Myanmar are better" so maybe you should respond to that instead of dragging Pakistan in it.

I'm a Sikh Punjabi mate so I have soft corner for Pakistanis because of our cultural ties. I did not want to drag Pakistan into this and that's why I asked him about the India's biggest neighbour in SA. My bad, I should have used the word SA specifically. I have kids and looking at these pictures makes me sad, be it in India, Pakistan or any where else.

I acknowledged the main statement by saying 'never get satisfaction out of anyone else misery'.

On a side note, coming to Pakistani forum and bad mouthing Pakistan does not sit well with my values. With due respect, people look at the flags and make judgements. As mentioned earlier, bad mouthing Pakistan on your forum says more about my character than anything else, so will never do that.

No one is in any doubt where India stands, and Indian's know better than anyone else. That said, India lives in hostile neighbourhood and had to spend money on weapons. To me its falls in same category as Insurance premiums, just in case. As long as it is below 3% of GDP its fine with me.
