What's new

India hit record low with 36 all out

It was really heartwarming to see a Muslim rickshaw walla's son as one of India's heros.

Even more heartwarming to see his emotions during our anthem.

But what was most heartwarming was the way he was accepted as one of our own by the Hindu boys around him.

It was spontaneous and natural.

Nothing like the vibes in the South African team between the white Boers and the native African players.

This is India.

Cheers, Doc

I don't think there is any sort of Hindu-Muslim divide when it comes to cricket even though our team is dominated by Hindu players. There have been great muslim players in the Indian cricket team over course of time like Irfan Pathan, Md Azharuddin, Md Shami, Zaheer Khan, Syed Mushtaq Ali, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Md Kaif etc and all have been given the same love from fans and respect from their fellow players

I agree with you.

But outside of the cricket team, where these boys and their families lives, there is definitely a divide ...

His two brothers were interviewed.

One spoke decent English so obviously their late father was a progressive Muslim who educated his sons and did not allow them to scratch their crotches all day and chase Hindu girls.

They also made it a point to dress in pristine white. To blend in. You would know that Muslim young guys love black.

That's odd. Why was there ever any doubt that a Muslim should be an integral part of India's winning cricket team? 74 years and only now your heart is being warmed by this integration? What a crock of condescending nonsense, which is actually pretty typical behaviour in Hindustan. Muslims built your country, yet your heart is suddenly warmed by a Muslim's presence in the cricket team? A simple "well done team India" would have sufficed from the honourable doctor.

Clearly, Muslims cannot be Indian simply by default.

Trust me, in India Today, nowhere except on the cricket field will you find 10 Hindu boys back slapping and bear hugging a solitary Muslim boy and ruffling his hair.

This is not Zaheer Khan's India buddy.

You guys seem to be hiding your heads in the sand about the reality of the sea of humanity to your east that faces you.

Life is not cricket.

Cheers, Doc

Sea of humanity? Sea of human something-else methinks.

Indians celebrate a Muslim (or women, transpeople, dalits, etc, for that matter) only when they are seen in service of the nation, making sacrifices for the same. The moment they demand their rights, or god forbid even betray any sign of existing, they are dehumanized, attacked and killed.

Let's face it. For all their successes, they would have a difficult time finding a flat in Mumbai.

The cricket field Muslim boys are the mainstreaming program in the larger society seen in a high visibility crucible.

Those with suspect tendencies like Irfan and Mohammed are smoothly sidelined and removed from the old boys club.

Like you were.

Cheers, Doc

So India belongs to brahmins? We know that already. That's the problem in fact.

That's always been the truth.

Even the Muslims had a hands off policy. That suited them well.

They rule unmolested. In their capitals.

The Brahmins control the society. In the villages.

Look at Pakistan as a capital given to you to the periphery to rule and do with as you please.

While we control the hearland.

We have many such great stories of Humble human beings. Hats of to those parents who consistently sacrificed everything to see their children progresses. Like Kalam sir said, his story is a story of many Indians. I bow down to such great parents.
