The problem is not the police apathy now.

There are many police officers who are actually doing their job well, at least in metro cities (can't say about UP, Haryana and Bihar). Police is ruthless in catching and beating the sexual predators these days but the problems stems from the judiciary.

EVEN if the police catches them, the judiciary takes its own sweet time. If the sarkari time for courts is over, it sets a next date ages later, further pulling the case to years.

Because of this apathy from judiciary, who believe more in processes rather than practicality, a lot of people of both the sexes have lost faith in the law system.

So blaming the police alone is not the problem.

There is always a discussion on bringing in fast track courts but it always gets scrapped due to politics of some dirty politicians at some level.

This is nothing to be happy about or to celebrate. Nearly all countries of the world have this sort of problem to varying degrees including harassment of the women. Its totally uncalled for and totally unjustified, no sane and civilized person can ever condone it. What will you say if it happened to your sister or mother?

Yes India has this problem and yes they need to do more to sort it out, the first step is to acknowledge that a problem exists. I dont know why men behave like this in India or other countries maybe its partly a power thing but what ever, it needs to stop!
