The ‘Make In India’ initiative is getting further boost with the latest news report that Indian state run Defence Research and Development Organization ready to transfer of crucial anti-tank missile tech to private players.

It is now said that crucial technology transfer would be of third generation anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) ‘Nag’ to private industry.

It is said that DRDO has already kick-started initial activities relating to Transfer of Technology (ToT) for both ‘Nag’ and ‘Nag Missile Carrier (Namica)’.

It need be mentioned that ATGM Nag is with a range of about four kilometers and is an all-weather “fire-and-forget” missile.

The vehicle Namica is equipped with retractable armoured launchers.

It contains launchers and a guidance package including thermal imager for target locking.

DRDO should handover the production to private players as OFB's and DPSUs are a bunch of lazy morons leeching on govt funds. MoD should also consider privatizing all non-performing PSUs

Well the thing is none of the defence PSUs are loss making, in fact they make huge profits because of the complete monopoly they enjoy.

non-performing doesn't just mean monetary terms but also the quality and rate of production and frankly PSUs products are absolute crap and look like some cheap chinese toys in a village fair

IMO they shouldn't be privatized, rather tender should be floated for every project and private indian companies should be allowed to participate in a level playing field. When they see all the projects slipping from their hands, they will mend their ways themselves.

Do you think they care, all that matters is their getting payed at the end of the month just for sitting idle and consume gallons of tea

Things are changing, recently when 7th pay commission was being implemented, some PSU's didn't get its benefits because they weren't making profits. So this same thing can be applied to defence psu's as well.

Yes they care, apart from Air India, almost every PSU improved in their performance when faced with competition. It maybe steel giants, oil companies or nationalized banks.
