  • India asks US embassy to withdraw an officer of a rank similar to that of Devyani Khobragade

News is just breaking!

I thought this saga came to an end! Obviously not..:undecided:

New Delhi/New York: Diplomat Devyani Khobragade flew back to India on Friday after a deal between the US and India that gave her diplomatic immunity but forced her to leave America immediately, without her young children. India has now asked the US embassy in New Delhi to withdraw an officer of a rank similar to Ms Khobragade's, reports the PTI, in a sign of lingering bitterness between the two countries.
Devyani Khobragade case: India asks US embassy in Delhi to withdraw an officer

Thanks to the approaching General Elections for this Pro-activeness of our Government on this issue :coffee:

This is expected and standard response in diplomatic circles whenever a diplomat is made "persona non grata". His equivalent counterpart is also ejected from the country.

Diplomacy is all about reciprocity. However in this case, India seems to have extend a courtesy to US and have asked them to identify the officer instead of taking a unilateral approach.
