In Qaddafi Stadium: A room for Aleem Dar
Published: October 3, 2011
KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has honoured award-winning international umpire Aleem Dar by naming the Umpire Room at Qaddafi Stadium after him, Express 24/7 reported on Monday.
The board has also announced a reward of one million rupees and a trophy for Dar as recognition of his achievements.
Dar recently won the David Shepherd Trophy for the ICC Umpire of the Year for the third year running. He beat competition from Steve Davis, Ian Gould and five-time winner Simon Taufel.
Speaking to the media at National Stadium in Karachi, Dar said all his achievements were indebted to the prayers of the nation.
Dar said he had asked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to allot him a ground where he could groom young cricketers and umpires.
The award-winning umpire said he wanted to do something for the youth because there were not many opportunities available.
Dar, 43, officiated in five Tests and 13 ODIs during the voting period, including the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka.

Yes when r yhey gonna change the name of that stadium?

Its not often an umpire has universal support throughout the world to be voted the best. He has gained great respect from Indians when they toured England and it was nice to see how well he got on with all the players.Looks like a genuine humble guy and im glad he is Pakistani.
