Oh the emotional maturity of the Indian leadership.

Economically, India is not competing against China. India is competing against Southeast Asia. Southeast Asian countries are trying their best to maintain good trade relation with everyone. India is hellbent on tanking its trade relation with China. It's clear who will become the new manufacturing center. Maybe India will get another chance in 2050 after the coming Southeast Asian boom wanes. But I bet the next time it will go to a more youthful Africa.

I suggest Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to join ASEAN ASAP.

India already has a robust trade relationship with taiwan. We have imported heavy machinery from them even a decade back. Quality was questionable.
Instead of beating around the bush, India should just post a official representative with diplomatic authority in Taiwan.

India literally got broken up from the start with Pakistan and Bangladesh going independent when both used to be part of British India.

Pakistan has UN recognition and nukes, Taiwan doesn't.

India now forever has Pakistan as a dagger to its heart while Taiwan has been so marginalized they even have to ask for Chinese permission to talk at the WHO.

As for India, losing 1000+ troops in 1962 in a few weeks is impressive. It's hard to even round up 1000 pigs running around in a forest in that time.
