  • 8.2 million people die from cancer worldwide every year, out of which four million people die prematurely between the age of 30 and 69 years.
  • Patients diagnosed with triple-negative, breast cancer, lung cancer, bladder, bowel, gastric cancer, and melanoma would be the first one on which the new remedy plan will be implemented.

With increasing number of cases every single day, cancer remains one of the most fatal diseases without any properly developed cure as of yet.

National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research on Cancer found out that 11,57,294 lac new cases of cancer are reported in India every year. 7,84,821 individuals capitulate to the disease in 2018. So far, no treatment for the disease has been developed, therefore risks for cancer grows by a margin.

A group of scientists might have just come close to finding a treatment for cancer by developing a virus that might hold the potential to destroy cancer cells in a petri dish and reduces the tumor in mice. If this works, it might as well be scientific breakthrough that the doctors and patients have been waiting for.

Scientists from America recently produced a certain type of cowpox virus, which shows a viable result to completely cure cancer. The remedy, which has been called “CF33”, destroy every kind of cancer cells.

‘There was evidence that viruses could kill cancer from the early 1900s. It is when people vaccinated against rabies had their cancer disappear, they went into remission.’ Professor Fong said.

However, scientists were worried about the consequences of the viruses, as they can cost humans their life.

“The problem was if you made the virus toxic enough to kill cancer you would probably kill man, “he said.

Meantime, remedy for cancer is also emerging in Australia.

Basket Study
Patients diagnosed with triple-negative, breast cancer, lung cancer, bladder, bowel, gastric cancer, and melanoma would be the first ones on which the cure will be tested. This phase is, what scientists call, the ‘Basket Study’.

However, the success of injected viruses in mice does not guarantee the viruses will be able to treat humans as well. However, Professor Fong is positive about human trials. He believes we are all set for another exhaustive remedy for threatening disorders.

This is certainly good news and hope that we will soon have a cure for cancer.

pretty stupid article or misunderstood science or misquoted research which is very common in news outlet

problem is "cancer" isnt a single disease thus a single virus will never work..

new game for cancers are check point inhibitors..nothing else has been in trials or expected to be in trials

. . . .
Although each cancer is specific to cell type, most types of cancer do usually share some specific traits. These include disruption of the basement membrane, subsequent metastasis and apoptosis function inhibition. Some generic cancer therapies are therefore designed to combat tumour malignancy and immune response inhibition, with apoptosis mediation by p50 proteins as an example of research in recent times.

A virus based generic treatment could therefore only be partially effective if it targeted the mechanisms commonly found in most cancers. However, this is unlikely for natural viruses given these mechanisms are not found in non-malignant cells. Furthermore, if any artificial treatment had been found to be effective, this would have become extremely well known before the choice of a virus based mode of treatment could be made.

Ironically, the use of Indian populations as subject answers the question as to the intended target audience and source of this article.

Article clearly says every type of cancer. And a single type of virus could work.

I think they tag the cancer cells first, the viruses simply target them.

Viruses have been used for genetic treatments as well in humans so I think it's entirely possible.

Very poorly written article. No intellect speaks like that.

Sounds like fake news written by a jahil "reporter".
