Started by Waqar Zaka, as of now there are more than 1.38 million tweets on this trend. I used to play PUBG, the ban does not make much difference for me as i was not addicted to it. However this trend which the Govt. is setting will be bad news for esports and people earning for it.
Pakistan lags behind in IT sector because in the early 2000's when the world's best IT companies were looking for programmers, our road side IT "Colleges" were creating users by offering courses on how to use Ms Office and web development tools. There was no initiative taken by the Govt. at that time to standardize a curriculum for IT education. Similarly today, i see hardly any institutes offering studies for app development.

Our problem is that the Baby Boomers generation, who are now parents and grandparents, are still stuck in the past where playing video games was considered a waste of time and only a master's degree in since or arts is considered "Education". At time where esport players earn millions, game developing companies like Tencent games are billion dollar enterprises, and even game testers earn handsomely, we are depriving our children of an opportunity to make a career in online gaming.

People love banning things they don't like.
Doesn't matter the merits of it, "I don't like it, so it needs to be banned"

Of course things they do like... like cricket.... well those are healthy wholesome things

I'm in the games industry myself. I'm a parent too. The problem is unhindered access to online content. While all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, excess screen time is a real problem. I myself had unrestricted access (pc user since 1993) but my time online was always kept in check by my parents.

It is up to the parents to keep a check on screen time of their children. I am a father too and my 9 year old girl recently told me that she wants to be an online gamer. My wife and I have no objection to this, we allow her to play for a couple of hours daily as long as she completes her chores and study related assignments.

Funny thing is, apparently PTI media cell has started a fake trend of #westandwithPTA. Do they not realize that 1.4 million tweets of #imrankhanpubgkholo cannot be for a fake trend, they are genuinely pissing off Youth who have a legitimate right to ask for unbanning of PUBG. Imran Khan is popular only with youngsters, if they stop backing him, he will not win a single seat next time around.

Reminds me of my abba jee who took my PC with 17 inch heavy CRT monitor and placed it on top most shelf of a cupboard in his room because I would not focus on studies (around 2004).

When the family was not at home, me being desperate enough would take it down all the way from the top and plug it up for an hour of gaming/teen fun.

Aaj kal ke bacche are much smarter and would find a loophole to satisfy their thirst.
