Sales of PTI round neck T-shirts reaches its peak while, out of every ten shirts sold, seven are PTI’s and three PML-N’s in Lahore.
The sale of PTI party T-shirts skyrocketed in Lahore, and Karachi, following the tragic incident of Tuesday, in which PTI chairman Imran Khan was injured and received serious head and backbone injuries.
Earlier, the sale of political party T-shirts was underway with slow pace. After the sudden untoward injury of Imran Khan, the demand for PTI T-shirts surprisingly increased, said Tahir, a shop owner in Anarkali.
The important factor about the PTI T-shirts is that it is promoting only PTI chief Imran Khan as compared to the PML-N which is promoting party symbol. On PTI T-shirts Imran Khan portrait or flag is printed only while on PML-N T-shirts they have printed lion which is election symbol of the part and party flag.
Waleed, who sold 1000 T-shirts of PML-N, told The News that the PTI was focused on its chief while the PML-N were doing individual campaigns. He said that PML-N ticket holding candidates had prepared their individual T-shirts and distributed in their respective constituencies. On the other side, the PTI ticket holders had not made any such T-shirts for the supporters, rather their supporters had been purchasing Imran Khan portrait printed T-shirts themselves and wearing them. ‘I marketed my PML-N T-shirts through PML-N social media pages otherwise sale of such special items could not be possible and investment could be stuck,’ he disclosed.
‘I missed the opportunity of doing business on PTI T-shirts and made investment in PML-N T-shirts’, he said. If he had prepared PTI T-shirts he could have sold double T-shirts as compared to the PML-N T-shirts. ‘I have sold all of my 1000 T-shirts stocks of PML-N today,’ he disclosed.
Raheel, a representative of an online product selling portal hailing from Karachi, said that sales of the PTI T-shirts had increased. ‘We did not print MQM, PML-N, and PPP T-shirts as we were not expecting any sale of them while the suppliers also did not take interest in making other parties T-shirts expect PTI,’ he said mentioned that, daily, as many as 300 orders were placed on Wednesday after Imran Khan had fallen down in Lahore as compared to daily order routine of 100 to 150 orders. Each order contains two to 10 T-shirts placed by the buyers,’ he said and added that the company had designed a new design after Imran injury incident which had been selling like hot cakes. However, we are unable to deliver these orders other then Karachi before election. But our sale is quickly increasing in Karachi for Imran Kahn printed portrait which is a healthy sign for our business despite the fact that MQM has strong hold in Karachi, he observed.
