Says he and President Alvi have decided to 'play' on approval of PM's recommendation

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday hinted at potentially spoiling the smooth appointment of the next chief of army staff.

In an interview given to a private television channel, ARY News on Wednesday evening, Imran was asked whether he was in touch with President Arif Alvi – who ultimately appoints the new army chief on the advice of the prime minister.

“Definitely, I am in touch with President Arif Alvi; he will talk to me about everything,” Imran said, adding that since he is the head of the party to whom Alvi belongs, the two would discuss the matter.

“He will definitely consult me. I am the head of the party.”

Asked if they had any plans to throw a spanner in the works, Imran responded suggestively.

“We have decided, the President and I, that whatever we do, we will do it whilst remaining within the ambit of the law,” he said, adding, “We will play within the ambit of the law.”

Imran reiterated his refrain that any pick from amongst the six names sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif – who is constitutionally empowered to make the pick – would essentially be a pick made by deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Shehbaz had earlier this month spent several days in London consulting with his elder brother, party supremo and former prime minister Nawaz over a host of critical matters about the country. Sources had suggested that the army chief’s appointment was among the topics of discussion between the two.

“Whoever Nawaz Sharif chooses and brings as the army chief will be controversial from day-one,” Imran asserted.

“If they think that Nawaz Sharif will appoint his army chief and use the establishment to suppress us, the country will stand up against it,” he warned.

His own party members have created so much controversy that all look muddy...look at Rana Sanaullah, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Shahbaz Sharif or Khawaja statements ...all are totally different in the last few days ...seems Shahbaz going to announce something against the choice of his own coalition and leave for Turkey to avoid backlash.

Shahbaz wants to be in the middle ground, but Nawaz is not ready to accept. He said we took all the shitz means PMLN and when COAS selection comes, everyone walkin and it's not acceptable.

I really don't understand how an unelected government can have so much influence. Elections should have happened months ago.

. .
Do you consider Rishi Sunak's government unelected? How about Liz Truss's?

It's from the same party. The elected party are still in charge.

This one, they bribed a punch of politicians and changed the party in charge with a vote inside parliament.

Did they ask the public if they want PDM in control?

If this was democracy then someone else from PTI should have become PM or general elections.

Someone needs to tear up the constitution and write a new one.

The funniest part of this is PDM is basically every party apart from PTI  How is this democracy when competing parties are now one?

In a parliamentary system, the only thing that matters is he who gets the most votes in the parliament becomes the leader. There is no mention of party in the Constitution. Generally, many parliamentary governments are coalitions of multiple parties. You should see how frequently they make and break governments without elections in Israel, Italy, Japan etc.

What an idiot you are.
In parliamentary elections if party members resign a new election is held which isn't being held.

Make sure you get a good check from maryum Nawaz for being such an idiot

Former PM on politics in Pakistan after surviving shooting

Clip: 11/23/2022 | 8m 12s|Video has closed captioning.
Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was ousted in April after three and a half years in office. Since then, he's survived an assassination attempt and drawn massive crowds to rallies where he demands early elections, calls out corruption and points fingers at the powerful Pakistani military for his removal. Khan spoke with Amna Nawaz ahead of another massive march to Islamabad.

There is no reference to 'party' in a parliamentary system to elect a leader. A leader has to command a majority of Members of the House. 50% of MPs + 1 works.

You know about house quorum???
Ofocurse not

By law elections has to be done in resign seats that the government has illegally blocked after danda went up their asshole ..that danda is pretty thick
