* PTI chief says corrupt politicians lack moral courage to stop ISI’s interference in govt affairs

* Says if directives of his elected govt not followed, he will opt to resign

By Tanveer Ahmed

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that the ISI is calling the shots because of the corrupt politicians, and vowed to bring army and its intelligence outfit under his command if voted to power.

“The government lacks the moral courage, which has been giving the space to ISI to assert its powers in various affairs of the country,” Khan remarked while talking to media after PTI’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting. The PTI chief, who has been accused by PML-N of playing in the hands of establishment to damage its vote bank, particularly in central Punjab, blamed the politicians for the ISI’s interference in the political affairs of the country, saying their corrupt practices had provided the premier intelligence agency the excuse to meddle in the political arena.

Khan said the ISI could not dare exert its influence if government had the moral courage, and promised that after coming to power, if directives of his elected government were not followed, he would opt to resign instead of staying in power. Criticising the PML-N, he said it was the only party in the country that was formed by army and said that its politics revolves around the policy to stick to power.

Khan said that his party would not allow anyone to rig the next general elections like the previous ones which, he said, were rigged. He also expressed doubt that elections held under President Asif Ali Zardari would be transparent.

He also reiterated the threat made at the massive Lahore rally of his party to block all the cities across the country if the next general elections were rigged. While calling for an independent and impartial Election Commission to hold free and fair elections in the country and give people the environment to exercise their right of vote, he urged voters lists be prepared as per the NADRA’s identity cards to ensure accuracy.

The PTI chief also hinted at forging an alliance with political parties which share the PTI’s approach, and said that his party would continue to negotiate with other political parties. He, however, made it clear that there would be no alliance with those parties which want to preserve status quo.

Imran also announced to set up a scrutiny committee in his party to look into the assets of politicians and expose those who have concealed their assets by submitting fake asset declarations. The committee will also scrutinise those who aspire to join PTI, he said.

if politicians are not corrupt then they should have no fear from ISI and public would support them but public dont trust and dont support Politicians against ISI .... public dont trust Politicians but they trust more in ISI
