Imran not sure about Qureshi
Published: November 17, 2011
LAHORE – In what seems to be detraction from his earlier statement, PTI chief, Imran Khan has said that it is the prerogative of former PPP leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi to take a decision for selecting a new political party to join.
Imran Khan took a new stance over Qureshi while responding to media’s specific query about confirmation from the former foreign minister for joining the PTI on November 27 during a public meeting in Sindh.
He expressed these views while answering various media queries on Wednesday after a joining ceremony of prominent political figures to the PTI.
Prominent among the political personalities who joined the PTI during a meeting with Imran Khan include former district nazim Hafizabad, Col (Retd) Ali Ahmed Awan, former ticket holders of PPP, Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmed, Chaudhary Zaigham Col (Retd) Sultan belonging to Shakargarh, Zafarwal and Daska respectively.
While around 50 former nazimeen and district and bar association office bearers of Shakargarh have also joined the PTI on this occasion. PTI chief said that they would not award ticket to any corrupt element.

It seems that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has decided not to deviate from his own beaten path. Unfortunately, the PTI leader’s one true consistency has been his penchant for issuing grands and sweeping generalised populist rhetoric without an ounce of explanation how these seemingly magical deeds are to be accomplished. In his talk with the media after the PTI’s Central Executive Committee meeting in Islamabad, Mr Khan vowed to bring the army and its intelligence agencies under his control if elected as prime minister. He blamed corrupt politicians for the army’s constant interference in government affairs and pledged that he would resign if the directives of his elected government were not followed. He also reinforced the possibility of his party’s alliance with other ‘like-minded’ political parties and politicians in the upcoming days.

Mr Khan’s politics seems to be revolving around ideals that in reality are hard to materialise, especially in the absence of a clearly chalked-out plan by his party on how to deal with the issues, problems and conflicts confronted by the country. Many other politicians have also been trying to minimise the army and the ISI’s interference in the government’s affairs but to no avail. How Mr Khan would restrict the military establishment from poking its nose in the matters of his party-led government calls for further and satisfactory explanation. The solution of this longstanding issue needs more than moral courage.

Considerably flying high after holding a successful public meeting in Lahore recently, Mr Khan’s ingenious habit of making tall claims also expressed itself quite well in his latest interview with Karan Thapar for CNN-IBN. Responding to a question, he announced that in his government no militant group would be allowed to operate from Pakistan. While arguing for tackling the massive issues arising from militancy, he shared deweaponisation as a simple recipe.

The matter of disarming the militant groups is indeed easier said than done. Mr Khan should keep in his mind that these criminal elements in Karachi and FATA are not people who would willingly surrender their arms on the orders of his government. They are well organised, politicised, fanatical and criminal terrorist groups. Mr Khan’s pro-Taliban and anti-war on terror policy is well known. He should also come up with a clear-cut policy statement about the banned militant organisations like. The PTI’s chief has to do his homework and planning to meet the expectations of his electorate. With mere tall claims minus serious, logical and result-oriented content, Mr Khan seems to be going nowhere.

If this star happening that people from other parties starts lota bazi and joining PTI then what is the status of PTI then
it will again be a party containing old corrupt leaders
Imran khan should personally ask respected people to join his party
people like professors , vice chancellors
civil servants with clean job history etc etc

.
Getting in Qureshi may not be a bad idea, while he may be more shadowy than the other "baptized" entrys.. his reputation as a diplomat would be a strong boost to PTI's resume.

A confused leader is still better then a crook like Nawaz Shareef. Don't you think?

For reference, watch Shahzaib Khanzada's show

Agree , he will be great addition to skill set of PTI. He can help IK to make is foreign policies. He can boost IK profile on international level, and lately he scored some points by going against USA.

I believe Imran Khan said Shah Mahmood is welcome to join PTI so not sure where did you get the backtrack statements.

PTI Imran Khan has no control or cannot force someone to Join the Party, he only invited clean characters, I do not know what type of thoughts you have up there.

He is a Type of leader who shows mirror to PML-N/Q, PPP/MQM their dirty doings and swore to bring them to Justice.

.
Its reckless IK who don’t even ponder to let Qureshi finish his press conference about resignation from PPP and while we are seeing Qureshi’s press conference Mr. Imran make another sweeping statement while sitting with Hamid Mir that he will join PTI. A ticker did appear along side with Qureshi’s press conference telecast that he will joinig PTI as per IK.

Imran lovers….lets be specific and assume hypothetically that on 27th November Mr. Qureshi announce his political roadmap to another party including PMLN but PTI…How it received and welcomed by IK/PTI and specially by you…who for last couple of weeks showering a continuous praise on Qureshi’s credentials??:azn:

I wonder if somehow this Mr. Clean, straight and prestigious did join PMLN in the end, it will be a treat to watch and read the great collective about turn of whole PTI and Imran lovers about Qureshi……don’t be ashamed…it’s a new & change tradition afterall form PTI…!!!;):rofl:

.
