Imran met Munter in ISI chief’s presence

I am much skeptical about all of them because of that "Giant" machinery of which they become part themselves before being able to change it. Again, I like the turkish way. Educate, change minds and behaviors, change will be there. A long long long process though, but concrete. I may be worng, any one can differ.
change is coming ... cant you see the followers of Imran are majority of university students and educated people . this shows that behavior is changing and people are well aware of situation and they are not blind folded like before

.
Jinnah said he wanted Pakistan to be based on Islam, as an Islamic lab to practice it's principles. Seems pretty clear cut that means Shariat Law. So ideology of and party should be easy to decide

Again, when we formulate the Shariah doctrines into laws, we must follow a model of costituting the laws based on Shariah. We dont have one model. Interpretaion of Jinnah's vision is another debate though.

Thats why I anticiapte a high vote turn over on election day. We may see if chage come or not after that. We may say that there seems a change in voting behavior at the moment. See what is happening in Egypt. They want change after the "change".

Shariat Law is easy enough to interpret. There are not a billion interpretations. In fact, countries like Saudi Arabia (where I have personally lived) have much less crime. Why?
Since once you're caught stealing, your hand is cut. Can you steal again?
Nope

Think if this happened in Pakistan. We'd have handless Ganjas and Zardari

Crime rate is correlated to rule of law not to a particular model of law. BTW, do kings also follow them as common people there? I am afraid the answer is not yes. Some days ago a women was convicted for driving-which is prohibited there, according to their model- but after much critism from western media, the king gave her immunity. Now, what Shariah gives authority to any king to change a verdict of Shariah? Debate closed.

.
Err.... women not driving is NOT PART OF Shariat. It's a cultural thing in Saudi. Trust me, I've lived there

Here's Sheikh Ayed Al-Qarni, a Saudi Islamic scholar,
Neither the Qur'an nor the sunnah prohibits women from driving and that it is better for a woman to drive herself than to be driven by a stranger without a legal escort.

It is not Shariat, it is cultural
Since the Prophet's WIFE worked, Shariat is clear women are equal. It also makes it clear in other ways.

Yes you are right. Therefor a 'code' law is needed to distinguish between the sources from which the laws are to be formulated. Have we done anything in this regard?
And yes, now we cant say that there is a Shariah law in KSA.

.
Does this mean the countries having a single code of law are not or less diverse? Its not so, I am afraid. And the emphasis was on 'code' not the laws generated through that code.

I was in fact talking about legislation of 1973 (that yielded a code) when I referred to "diversity", I hope you know how 1973 constitution was legislated, those ifs and buts, and issues with previous codes? I said no where we don't have diversity in our code, it has but somewhat limited.

.
You mean therefore, right?
If you do mean that, the law is to be based on Quran and Sunnah. Countless interpretations are available.Implement the non-disputed ones and let the public decide on the controversial ones (Ijma, public's decision, is in Shariat too)

Debate is not about right or wrong. If any law follows the basic doctrines provided by Shariah, it should be right whatever label it adopts. Thats why so called "kafir" societies are progressing far ahead of "Muslim" socities becuase they act on those principles provided by Shariah while "Muslim" societies use lable only and follow thier cultutres more than Shariah (as in that women's driving case). We are debating in a wrong thread. Its off topic.

Salam,
If these news come out to be true. Then I would never support PTI.
But still this does not mean that I would ever support PPP or PML-any version.

.
As usual, the Lota Americans have seen the popularity of IK and now want to side with him........making friends now......let's see how sincere IK is in his anti-american rhetoric.

.
he wont be well-served to be ''anti american'' just for the sake of it......all he needs to do is always keep Pakistan's interests first. Obviously there are many areas in which Pak-US interests wuud diverge. So be it.

Assertiveness & self-confidence in tandem with pragmatism and vision are what is needed.
