Last week i happened to have a chance to have a chat with an American professor who was touring my University.

He asked me what was my heritage so i answered , Pakistan - He smiled and i got confused

"Its a Brilliant country" he replied (for my epic relief) i have lived in Pakistan for 7 years and have met many of your then leaders and i also have studied your society and politics.

As i got interested in the discussion , i began to ask questions on how did he view our political system.

What do you think about Pakistan's current democratic govt i asked ?

Democracy in Pakistan ? - "Gimme a f*****g break" he replied in his tough southern American accent & then he smiled and said "Its a pity son , i can go around and give those simple villagers which make up your 70% of the population 100 rupees each , make some promises i know i am never going to fulfill & i can get them to vote for me. "

We discussed the issues like Illiteracy , feudal culture and powerful families in Pakistan for a while. He told me how he knew Benazir butto as a corrupt leader and how did she transfered money overseas , how she deliberately screwed up her foreign policy -- and then a discussion followed onto Nawaz Sharif -- the stories we by now are all familiar with -- so i moved on.

My second question was about Imran Khan and what did he think about him as a leader ?

"If he (Imran Khan) would have been an American , i bet he would have been serving his second term in office" - He replied.

Your entire system is corrupt and Imran is someone trying to fight it off , besides i believe he should have been in power 10 years ago -- Pakistan would have been a different country today - he said and i felt my head going under the sand like a frightened ostrich....

"He is a visionary , once in a generation leader - from what i remember meeting him some time ago" he continued - provided if he "survives the cut".

My Third question was "suggest some solutions".

He said , all you need is a leader and Imran Khan in my mind is your chance , take this chance or not its up to Pakistanis to decide --i am all but disappointed in Pakistanis !

So did the conversation ended and he asked me questions about me and Lahore and its food and culture and if people still blame everything on the US. :D

----

We greeted & he left -- and so did i , but not without a question mark stuck in my brain ...

If this incident was made public i m sure PML (N -as in naa ehal ...incompetent) would label that American professor as CIA agent / or a jewish conspiracy . If Imran gives us one thing - very important thing , it is hope ... may be one day there will be change and Imran will lead it .
Imran ===== Hope

.
I have always believed that had this been any other country, Imran Khan would have already become an iconic leader! Alas we are Pakistan.

. .
It would be best day of my life to see IK running my country. atleast that night I would sleep well knowing my country is in safe hands...

And raise questions about his marriage. :P

.
for taking up our chance we have to temper with imposed "democracy"

.
Imran Khan is last hope for Pakistan, plz vote for IK next election,

How can we get that message to the masses who are mostly illiterate and live in rural areas of the country?

The thieves Nawaz Sharif and Zardari have something that Imran Khan doesnt have and that is large amounts of money to bribe the hardworking illiterate Pakistanis who need the money.

We have an old culture in Pakistan of "beating the dholl" as hard as we can -- people listen , ignore , listen , ignore and then listen again -- and some of them will come and join the party , some wont ! -- its all about filtering after all !

.
I hope he comes to th epower ASAP and holds office for three consecutive terms to deliver somthing, but I am also afarid that our corrupt politicians with the help of corrupt and head strong beaurocracy will not let heim succeed, and I hope i am wrong on this.

People from rural areas elect idiots, and we suffer....they support generals, and we suffer....it is least concern to them WHERE OUR PAKISTAN is heading...

I believe IK is a revolutionary leader...he wants to take all segments of the society with him, so such view will take time to route itself in the minds of every segment of the society or else it will require extra ordinary circumstances that shall nail it in our heads....

.
IK has gain alot support, one due to his ideology, second due to vacuum of leadership...

I believe a twist will bring him to power...

.
Pakistan has tried the PPP and Nawaz Sharif and the military.

It is time they give Imran a chance to change.
