Recently watched this movie "Dark Waters" which is about a lawyer fighting
chemical giant Dupont after they contaminated a town's water supply by dumping Teflon which in turn leads to cancer, infertility, deformed babies being born.
What's disturbing is that Teflon is banned in the Europe and USA. But in India it is commonly used chemical in cooking wares. All my pans have a Teflon coating.
All non stick cookware being sold in India has a Teflon coating.
A harmful chemical which has been banned in the west is being freely used in India. I guess Dupont is wiring decent amount of money to our corrupt politicians and bureaucrats.
I have heard about harmful effects of using aluminium cook ware on internet/watsapp. But never had I heard about harmful effects of Teflon before watching this movie.
Non White lives are still cheap.
I don't think an Indian lawyer would successfully fight a Indian coroprate giant like the Reliance group and any bollywood film studio would make movie exposing it's corrupt practises.
We don't have such rights and priveleges in here.

Edit : The movie also exposes a nexus between corrupt politicians-civil servants-Scientists-Dupont who buried this scandal for a long time. In India such a whistleblower would be bought off or murdered and no one would care.
