India's need to replace its Hindustan Aeronautics HPT-32 Deepak basic trainers could be satisfied by a future deal involving the Polish-designed PZL-130 Orlik, Airbus Military believes. The company, which is responsible for the activities of EADS PZL, says it has submitted a bid for the Indian air force competition. The Polish air force operates 20 of the turboprop-powered type, including two in an upgraded TC-II configuration. "We are working with India to deliver what India wants," says Airbus Military managing director Domingo Ureña.
