ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has lifted the ban on celebrating the Valentine’s Day, ARY News reported on Friday.

Last year, a single bench of the high court, comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, had issued a stay order, prohibiting celebration of Valentine’s Day in public spaces and government offices in the country.

The media was also asked not to air promotional content in this regard, according to the stay order of the IHC.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani took up the case, today,, in which applicant, Abdul Waheed, representatives of the information ministry, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) appeared before it.

The honuorable judge after hearing the arguments from both sides, wrapped up the case by setting aside the judgment of former justice Shaukat Aziz, regarding ban on Valentine’s Day celebrations.

The petitioner had moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against celebration of the Valentine’s Day by terming it against Islamic teachings and traditions, and sought a ban on it in Pakistan.

He pleaded with the judge to grant a stay order against celebration of Valentine’s Day and issue directives for the PEMRA to stop television channels from promoting it.

Seems unnecessary pagan ritual

In Pakistan the husband already gives a gift 365 days a year
  • Taking wife around the town after working 8 hour shifts
  • Taking wife around to meet in laws weekly
  • The trips to Malls and other shopping places
  • Purchase of gifts being sold almost every trip
  • Purchase of rose things women buy from street sellers very popular 365 days a year
  • Money control , budgeting to wife
  • 2 Gifts purchasing days already (Eid fitar and Azha) not just wife whole family
  • Then a gift for the attendance of weddings happening across year

Nobody name Valentine in our culture we had a actor name Vahid murad very popular man in his time, sure if they want to dedicate a day for film star why not
