Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled a multi-mission unmanned land vehicle REX MK II to aid and protect ground forces in the field of battle.
The multi-mission REX MK II is a hybrid electric platform with all wheel drive and has the ability to carry a load of 1.3 tons.
The REX MK II is intended to support infantry ground forces in various stages of fighting. This includes providing logistical assistance to troops by carrying munition supplies, critical medical equipment, water, and food, as well as evacuating injured personnel on stretchers.

The system can also gather intelligence through a situation-awareness-system that incorporates electro-optical sensors and radar.
The system which is already being sold to customers will be presented at the DSEI exhibition in London, this week.

Something like this (obviously a bit scaled down) can be used to accompany convoys near border regions for scouting, or patrol terrorist hotbeds for potential ambushes or IEDs. Or put ground penetrating radars on them and scan routes. Or be used as a Comms relay in front lines.
Pity, in our 2 decades we never bothered with UGV development. Just tanks, ships, artillery and submarines that we'll never use.
As the saying goes: "God helps those who help themselves". And it certainly shows.

Those Indian software engineers in Europe and North America are coders who just work in a limited and specific manner to the design / specification given by either their Western bosses or by the managers of the Indian companies who have been contracted by Western organizations who provide the original design.

Take the case of the 40-year-old, very rich Indian software company Infosys which currently has 259,000+ employees out of which most will be computer engineers. Yet this software company hasn't been capable of setting up a team of 20 people, or even five people, who will design an entirely new, Indian operating system software. All the other Indian software companies are like this sadly.

What is the reason to target Indian private IT companies?

Would be better to target IBM. ATOS, Capgemini, Cognizant, Accenture, etc... because they also do not develop such MIlitary codes.

Why only Indian based IT company?

INclude all the IT software companies worldwide because they all use - Linux/UNIX, Windows, and macOS OS..

It depends on adoption, if world has adopted Android and iOS then there’s no sense in making your own OS.

Then who adopted Windows, QNX Neutrino RTOS, Integrity RTOS, macOS etc ? They started at some point. Somebody adopted them. QNX Neutrino is used various sectors including in nuclear reactors and space. Integrity is used in various military projects.

In 2010 the Indian DRDO government organization declared that it has set up a team to develop an indigenous "futuristic" operating system for India's secure applications :

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is working on creating a futuristic computing system, including India's own operating system, said V.K. Saraswat, Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister and DRDO Director-General.

Talking to journalists after inaugurating the DRDO Transit Facility here on Saturday, Dr. Saraswat said: “We do not have our own operating system. Today, various bodies, including banks and defence establishments, need security. Having our own operating system will help us prevent hacking of our systems.”

Two software engineering centres are being set up for this purpose in Bangalore and New Delhi. “To start with, we will have 25 scientists at each of these centres. We are in touch with institutes such as the Indian Institute of Science, Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the Centre for Development of Telematics, besides universities and industries. We will use available talent.” Citing security reasons, he refused to provide details of organisations involved in the project.

The new operating system would also have commercial use, he said and added: “With a home-grown system, the source code will be with us and it helps in securing our systems,” he said. Asked about the money involved for the project and the timeframe, Dr. Saraswat said it was fairly a costly affair, without elaborating on the timeframe.

Two years later the only news about this project was that the team had now grown to 150 and spread across India. Seven years later, now in 2021, no "futuristic" OS from DRDO. If this OS was to have become existent then it would have been first adopted within India's military, scientific, bureaucratic etc sectors and possibly an OS for the Indian masses. India could have adopted this DRDO OS but DRDO could not deliver it.

Infosys is incapable of an intellectual task like designing and developing an innovative operating system despite it having access to huge financial and human resources. At the most it can only develop another distro of Linux. Just having a huge pool of money and engineers / PhDs is not what it takes to do such things like designing a new OS. One needs to have the idea. Some engineers are fine but they need to be given direction by the designer / designers. Indian companies like Infosys and TCS lack those designers.

Would be better to target IBM. ATOS, Capgemini, Cognizant, Accenture, etc... because they also do not develop such MIlitary codes.

IBM does have its operating systems.

Well, a lot of Indians are proudly fond of calling India as the site of the world's largest IT industry after Silicon Valley. What has been the use of this if it can't design the fundamental software in any binary computer - the operating system ? What do all those few million computer engineers and PhDs do ?

INclude all the IT software companies worldwide because they all use - Linux/UNIX, Windows, and macOS OS..

Well, then give those worldwide companies an Indian, world-class OS developed by Infosys or TCS.

Well, other Indian members who post frequently in the Indian Defense section of the forum can give more details on this but from what I know there are various private Indian companies like the Tata group, the Mahindra group among others who produce weapons systems like military vehicles, soldier helmet-mounted imagers, explosives, missile subsystems, drone subsystems etc. Many of these company have technical collaborations with organizations from other countries including those Israeli companies you named. Just that these companies don't seem to produce anything innovative.

Well, DRDO does make weapons but it also contracts out weapons system development to Indian private companies and purchases from foreign private companies like this text from the Wiki page :

Swordfish Long Range Tracking Radar, a 3D AESA was developed with assistance from Elta of Israel and is similar to Elta's proven EL/M-2080 Green Pine long-range Active Array radar. The DRDO developed the signal processing and software for tracking high-speed ballistic missile targets as well as introduced more ruggedisation. The radar uses mostly Indian designed and manufactured components such as its critical high power, L Band Transmit-Receive modules and other enabling technologies necessary for active phased array radars.
