Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is unveiling BARAK-MX, an air and missile defense system based on an innovative operating concept for the management of highly flexible defense systems. BARAK-MRAD - Interception range of up to 35 km, BARAK-LRAD - Interception range of up to 70 km, BARAK-ER Increased intercept range of 150 km .

The BARAK-MX system supports various radar and launchers for optimal coverage against fighter jets, helicopters, cement, cruise missiles, surface-to-air missiles and surface-to-surface missiles.
The system is based on a smart and proven operational control center that enables the integration of additional interceptor missiles:

The Barak MRAD short-range interceptor is launched vertically at high speed, suitable for handling threats up to 35 km in range and includes radar headers with only one pulse motor.

The Barak LRAD medium-range interceptor is launched vertically at high speed and is suitable for handling threats within a range of up to 70 km, and includes a radar head with a dual-pulse engine.

The long-range Baraker interceptor is launched vertically and includes an accelerator engine, a two-pole rocket engine and an advanced radar booster, increasing the intercept range by adding a rocket booster and adapting the 150 km communications and radar capabilities.

MRAD, Barak, Lrad and MRAD have many common components, which is a significant advantage in terms of ongoing maintenance, training and training of various customers.

The system is characterized by operational flexibility that enables the selection of the radar type and the type of interceptor according to the type of threat and type of mission, with a lateral view of the total threats, tasks and resources available to the system.

Yossi Weiss, IAI's President and CEO: "After we have made huge deals for exporting air defense systems from the Barak 8 family, we continue to develop our leading air defense systems and present additional innovative capabilities. This system was developed in a versatile manner in order to support various soldiers and armies and to enable operational and operational flexibility for the customer with a built-in growth capability, which reflects Israel's technological innovation, technological prowess and creativity. "

Boaz Levy, IAI's Vice President and Director of the Missile and Space Division, said: "The continued innovation in the development of the system, the integration of three interceptors with complementary capabilities and maximum flexibility, enable operational capabilities to respond to emerging threats. The technological innovations and modularity of the Barak MX family provide a response to a wide range of operational challenges while managing resources and effectiveness on the battlefield. The development of the system is based on proven building blocks and IAI's extensive knowledge in the development of air defense systems. "

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled the Barak-MX, a naval and land-based air and missile defense system, which follows the innovative operational concept of the Barak family of highly-flexible defense systems.

The Barak-MX supports various radars and launchers, providing an optimized response to fighter aircraft, helicopters, UASs, cruise missiles, ground-to-air and ground-to-ground missiles.

Based on smart, operationally proven command control, it supports the use of additional interceptors:

The Barak MRAD – a short-range, high-speed vertically-launched interceptor for threats within a range of up to 35 km. It includes a radar homing head with a single-pulse engine.

The Barak LRAD – a medium-range, high-speed vertically-launched interceptor for threats within a range of up to 70 km. it includes a radar homing head with a dual-pulse engine.

The Barak ER – a long-range, vertically-launched interceptor with an accelerator engine, dual-pulse rocket engine and advanced radar homing head. The extension of the interception range is achieved with a rocket accelerator and adapting the communication and radar capabilities to a 150-km range.

The three rockets (MRAD, LRAD, and Barak ER) share many common elements, a significant advantage for ongoing maintenance, training, and drills by different customers.

As an operationally flexible system, the Barak-MX allows choosing the radar and the interceptor type according to the type of threat and type of mission at hand. The operational decisions regarding the Barak-MX are taken based on the threat, missions, and resources characterizing the specific situation. The system’s modular nature allows customers to start with basic configuration and scale up gradually and quickly according to operational and budget needs.

“Having closed huge export deals for the Barak 8, we continue enhancing our leading air defenses systems with new innovative capabilities,” said Joseph Weiss, IAI’s CEO. “The Barak-MX is highly versatile and is meant to support diversified militaries with the utmost operational flexibility, and inherent scalability exemplifies the creativity, technological savviness, and boldness of Israel Aerospace Industries.”

Boaz Levy, EVP and General Manager of IAI’s Systems, Missiles & Space Group, commented, “The continued innovation in the development of the Barak Family, including the integration of three interceptors with complementary capabilities and the utmost flexibility result in operational capacity that responds to emerging threats. The modular nature and the technological innovation of the Barak-MX provides a response to a broad range of operational challenges while managing the resources and the effectiveness on the battlefield. The system has been developed based on proven building blocks that provide flexibility in the integrative technological aspect and in the operational aspect, and IAI’s extensive know-how in developing air-defense systems.”
