Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) Introduces MiniPOP-D Lightweight Electro-Optic Designator Stabilized Payload at AUVSI
Israel - 10 AUGUST 2009
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will introduce the most advanced member of its lightweight MiniPOP payload family, the MiniPOP-D, with a laser designator at the Annual Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Symposium & Exhibition in Washington, DC, August 11th to 13th (Booth #418, IAI North America).
Shaul Shahar, General Manager of IAI's Tamam Division said: "We are very proud of this new product and its unique qualities. MiniPOP-D is our smallest and lightest laser designator payload. The MiniPOP-D is the best solution for the US Department of Defense Small Tactical Unmanned Aerial System (STUAS/Tier-II) program and for similar mini UAV requirements."
MiniPOP-D is an innovative, single LRU (Line Replacement Unit), stabilized targeting payload that offers the best performance in its class. It includes all of the features of the MiniPOP, with the additional capabilities of target designation & range finding, using a new miniature dual wavelength laser ("MLDRF"- Mini Laser Designator and Range Finder). MiniPOP-D offers high power, low divergence and high duty cycle laser designation with eye-safe range finding mode, and is compatible with US and NATO laser guided munitions, including Hellfire missiles.
MiniPOP-D is compatible with UAVs and various airborne, naval, and ground applications. It can also serve as an infantry carried, remote control system due to its low weight, high performance, and cost effective observation capability which includes laser targeting.
