5/15/2013 - EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Some test pilot students traveled more than 8,000 miles to come visit the capital of flight test May 9.

Seventeen members of the Indian Air Force Test Pilot School's senior class got to see the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, the Air Force Flight Test Museum and the Benefield Anechoic Facility.

The visit is part of the Indian TPS's senior trip where they get to travel to many test facilities around the world.

Only good competition PAF pilots got till now was in Arab wars..PAF pilots really enjoyed going against equally tough and aggressive IDAF pilots...

Interestingly.. PAF pilots had a chance to visit an operational F-22 base back in 2007..and their views were that the USAF is a hundred years ahead.

Even during the recent Red Flag, PAF pilots were operating out of same base and mingling with the F-22s.

then there are test pilots that are employed by aircraft maker to test toatlly new aircraft have odometer set to 0.0 e.g. India ASTE pilot flying LCA for first time!!

When trying to gloat and rub your ego... try not being an IDIOT doing it. Its like Anu Malik claiming he invented the Alaap because his "lift teri band hai" had lots of crooning.
The Chinese test pilots went ahead to test the prototype... PT-04.. after which subsequently all the other aircraft flown by a joint test team(that is what collaborative projects are about in case your jingoism lets go of your brain cells) were used to explore flight characteristics.

What some people will do for self-bj's.

Dude- no need, come on!! Everyone is different and has different needs and abilities. What you say about the LCA and Thunder are correct but let's not forget what has been the case for the M2K, MKI,Jag,Mig-21 etc etc. it is only a very recent phenomenon that Indian test pilots have been the first to evaluate and test a bird from day one- somthing to be proud of but its not to be vulgar and insulting to others.


A lot of ASTE's work is actually testing of new parts/upgrades/shtems to exisiting machines for eg the first flight of the Indian-designed DARIN III UPG for the Jags was flown by an ASTE Teat Pilot, similarly it will be an ASTE TP who will fly the first Super MKI that HAL produces.

@Topic I bet these guys (ASTE TPs) are getting all excited and restless about testing the FGFA next year!!
