BANGALORE - Thales has completed price negotiations on an offer of a package of long-range low-level radars for the Indian Air Force, with the deal due to work through administrative approvals, a company executive said Feb. 12 at the Aero India show.

"The price negotiations are concluded," the Thales executive said.

The next stage is for the deal to clear the administrative procedure, he said. The contract covers around 20 units.

An Indian Air Force officer said the service has chosen the Thales system, valued at about $100 million.

Thales responded to the international tender launched by India about two years ago with a product based on its new Ground Master 400 series of scalable radars, developed on its own funds. The French company beat a rival offer from Elta Systems of Israel.

Other customers of the new radar include Slovenia, Malaysia and French Guyana, which bought the air defense radar in December for coverage of the Kouro region.
