An IAF cargo plane allegedly violated the no-fly zone over the Taj Mahal prompting the district authorities to urge the IAF to inqure into the incident.

District Magistrate of Agra, Ajay Chauhan, has written to the Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Agra requesting him to inquire into the flight of an Air Force cargo plane allegedly in the no-fly zone of the Taj Mahal on May eight this year, officials said.

The letter follows a complaint to the District Magistrate by the Commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force, that looks after the security of the Taj, alleging that the Gajraj cargo plane of the IAF flew over the Taj in violation of rules governing flights over the monument.

The District Magistrate said that it would have to be found if at all such a violation had taken place as it was difficult to make out with the naked eye the height of a plane flying above the Taj or its distance from the monument, which should be more than two km as per the present rules.
