See... here's the thing.. Indian democracy is for Indians..!! You get the benefits of Indian democracy only if you're an Indian. Now, if you want to strip yourself of your “Indian" identity, then you also strip yourself of the benefits of Indian democracy.. Its as simple as that. Over a decade ago a friend filed papers to contest for Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. The filing was rejected and was not allowed to contest.

Reason. My friend refused to sign a statement agreeing to uphold the unity and territorial integrity of India.

My friend would not sign such a statement because the very purpose of contesting was to show the world that there is major support for Tamil Nadu independence.

Canada is a democracy. The party that wants independence for Quebec was allowed to contest election. India is not a democracy because parties and people who want independence for a state are not allowed to contest elections.

Don't worry buddy. Once my farm land gets Country status I will allow you to contest in favor of separate 1200 Sq of land independence. You will be hailed as Gandhi of 1200 Sq land in Navi Mumbai till then go and collect some 30 Lacs... 1200 so is urs and it's Ur own country.
