Strict action needs to be taken by the state / govt instead of clarifying and refuting it. I would say rather the weak response by the govt encourages the fake news factories since there is no incentive in the form of repercussions for them. Rather, they created the disappointment and got the views and TRPs but the pathetic govt only clarifies. In my view either this spokesperson should resign and pay a heavy fine or the licence of the news channels & papers be cancelled and the editors and owners put behind the bars.
