Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said billions of rupees were being spent on development projects in Balochistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He expressed these views while addressing students of Cadet College of district Pishin, Balochistan, at Model Town. “Our joys and sorrows are common and we will distribute our resources accordingly. We will be developed when we will work united and take hard work as pinnacle of our faith. Honesty should be promoted and work should be done to eliminate corruption while national resources should be spent on progress and prosperity of the people,” he said.
He added Pakistan was composed of four federating units, Azad Kashmir and Baltistan. Balochistan was population wise smallest and area wise largest province of the country. The CM said Balochistan was our dear province and road network was being developed in it as my brother Chief Minister of Balochistan Sardar Sana Ullah Zehri was also giving full attention to development and prosperity of the province which would witness big positive change soon.
He said road contacts between Gwadar and Kashghar were being developed under the CPEC and Frontier Works Organization was working on this project round-the-clock. Gwadar would be the hub of economic activities and trade activities, he added.
The imports and exports of China would be carried through this route. Due to it, Balochistan would witness new era of development and investment would be enhanced, he said.
The process of national unity had been made strengthened by involving thousands of students of all federating units in educational programmes of Punjab and quota had been reserved for students of Baluchistan and other provinces, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan in educational institutions of Punjab, he said.
The CM added 1032 students of Balochistan were studying in different Punjab universities under the reserved quota. Stipends worth Rs.14 crore had been given to 3,223 students of Balochistan under Punjab Educational Endowment Fund. 124 students and 113 teachers were trained in youth development center Murree at the expense of Punjab government.
The chief minister also announced 20 stipends for the students of cadet college Pishin. Addressing the students, he said:” You are children of the nation. Giving respect and honour is our duty and a requirement of hospitality which we would fully abide with. You have come to your own home and we take you as part of our family. You are the guardian of prosperous future of the nation”.
“You will have to serve the nation by equipping yourself with education. You need to explore the new fields in knowledge and lend a helping hand in progress of the country”, he added.—APP
