What's new

Huawei unveils Mate X2 foldable phone, priced from about $2,785

Let the rich spend and Huawei will share the dividents among its thousands of stakeholders.

You are a sensible person. I speak of a fundamental issue. Instead of letting Huawei indirectly benefiting its stocks holders why can't the company make high-quality wearable computer devices which can be purchased for less money by anyone ? Why should most Chinese, or at least many, not be able to afford this particular cell phone ?

I will tell you about my project. I have been designing a microprocessor and an operating system. These I am making open source. I hope to start a company and will implement them in a wearable computer. I will charge customers for only the wearable. So a minimal charge.

An actual communist thought this.

.
Beyond? Ok sure.
I wait until Huawei phone sinks to one dollar then I buy dozens of them as lego or football for my sons.
What else can you do with a chinese phone without google, facebook, twitter?
:sarcastic: :sarcastic: :sarcastic:
That one dollar coin must be minted from gold from your tooth.
Hope your sons won't be knocking out the rest of your teeth out to mint another one.

FYI we have no idea what the future will hold either?
So what is your fellow Khmer Krom shaman saying?
With an IQ of 64, you are the smart one in here.
So did she visualized Vietnam will become China's Annam Province again?

Umm,huawei is not really a typical"medium-low income country " intended phone ,that would be honor. In india and other low income countries of Asia ,huawei phones aren't even sold ,not in retail, they aren't even officially released, few sellers put it up in some e-commerce site at even more inflated price point, and that's about it. You are mixing huawei for xiaomi/honor.Huawei has always been above the affordable price point for low-income countries.
I don't expect a false flagger like you to comprehend my post
but it is not made for most people, only a few will buy it for showing off.
Agree...until foldable phones reach the $1000-1500 mark with good reliability, they'll be a hard sell

"For medium-low income countries in which Huawei operates"
Yeah, who can comprehend all these assumptious shitposts.
A premium spec brand suddenly became "for low-income countries" when huawei generally don't even sell in low income countries and most of its sales used to come from china and Europe.

Why don't you google which countries Huawei phones are sold in!!

Secondly, folks from top economies couldn't necessarily afford it or don't intend to spend a bomb of close to $3k since they typically go for $1k phones. Unless they're able to make this affordable, such prices wouldn't see numbers in sales no matter what the specs are

.
Double the price of the most expensive iPhone12. Is that a joke?

Chinese are money rich now. Chinese sales of that phone are going to lift Huawei revenues up to the stratosphere.
Too complex for me. I will continue to use marker rocks and tree notches.

Iphone is sold in congo too;source google.
Huawei has its own affordable brand called honor(now sold off),sure there are some affordable huawei products as of recently, but general huawei products are a bit above xiaomi-honor range. But huawei is mostly known for p series which is a premium line. The cheapest Huawei is typically at least 250 $ more expensive than the cheapest honor .Thus, for super price-conscious market ,Huawei had their affordable sub-brand honor .Yes ,3k isn't small sum,but for many 1k isn't a small sum either, there are loads of people especially in china that can afford 3k handphone ,a gadget which is best in the industry atm. For anyone who wanted the best folding phone there is,what else will he choose?

In the era of the Internet of Things, smartphones are also shaping user interactions and the way they communicate with different kinds of devices. On the other hand, the latest technologies continue to emerge such as foldable display, which allows users to get a tablet experience only by unfolding their regular side smartphone.

The same goes for the latest Huawei smartphone, Mate X2, which comes with the in-ward foldable design, launched on February 22. On the same day, Huawei also opened its appointment on the JD online e-commerce platform, on which the number of appointments has exceeded 600,000.

On the other hand, the number of reservations on the official Huawei store reached an overall of 2.55 million until February 22.

According to the information, the Mate X2 comes with a new foldable phone mechanism and allows users to fold the tablet size device in half, providing a new kind of experience.

It comes with two displays, the main display expands at the 8.01-inch flexible display with a magnetically controlled nano-optical layer and helps the device to protect the screen. On the other cover side, it has a 6.45-inch display that helps users to get interact with the user device once the phone is locked.

Well, more than 2 million preorders. That must be good enough as a start.

Besides, Samsung and Xiaomi, too, is in the race. If Huawei waits, they will dominate the market.

Let Indians and South Vietnamese diaspora wait till the prices go down to 250USD/piece.

My government and my country's system is extremely capitalist. One example of this is the suicide of 300,000+ farmers just between 1995 and 2015. Within ten years. The suicides happened only because of the Indian socio-economic system.
it seems your expectation of China is too high. Our system is socialism with Chinese characteristics, not communism which is the ultimate aim. we have a long way to go. hope we can see that come true in our lifetime, and wish your country goes well too.

This is not how it works. Think like that: Even Huawei forsook high-end market and work to produce a cheap wearable for the kids in third world, the market for high ends will remain. Just that it will be entirely occuppied by foreign rivals, including China's own.

China, however, still produces global public goods. Lots of companies make affordable and quality products. Think of Xiaomi.

It's hilarious how these Indians are even adopting a fake Chinese name like "Deng li"to sound legit while running a site called Huawei Central, from India. That site is operated by a bunch of Indians from India, they simply copy pastes news from other sites ( without giving any credit)and they actually have zero inside info or relation with Huawei. Is this another Indian scam or shameless opportunism ?hmm..
