How to reverse Buddhism’s radical turn in S A

Well it's not as if it was me that bought up the subject matter, The OP suggests it's clearly a clash of communities with different faiths, So how can one discuss such topics without religion coming in to question

Oh it makes no sense to me sometimes too. I really have no idea where the lines exist anymore so I'm just staying clear for the time being. Nothing is turning outright nasty here at least.....because thats when I notice mods come in with the flamethrower and chuck everyone out with bans etc. So I guess this thread is fine for now....guess it sort of depends which country/society the thread is about too.

I completely support the crux of your points though. But many around us still are quite universalist and theoretical instead of pragmatic and realist.

Hmmm.. You seem to circumvent the issue here.. In my experience it's been a common factor when discussing this issues.. It's always somebody else fault

Nobody is condoning violence here

So lets get back to the core of this argument.. Shall we ? Without being philosophically utopian

The article is about how to reverse the alleged trend of once pacifist Buddhist nations to turn radical, Specifically against Muslims

What is had concluded and any sensible unbias person would agree is it's a reaction

A reaction towards actions of a particular community, Actions of that particular community that deemed threatening to the Buddhist community, If not no human being will react in violence unless he/she is threatened, More interms of Buddhist teachings of live and let live

I find this phenomena a quite recent one, I mean these are countries that have had Muslim communities living in coexistence for thousands of years, Unlike in the Middle East where only Abrahamic religions were practiced or particularly in the Gulf where nothing but Islam was allowed

So what changed ? The reason for that will give you the answer for the query that the OP poses
I am on the dot when talking about terrorism or radicalism. If anyone has any problem or threat from any other, the govt. must intevene and sort it out. Thats why the world talks of democracy and progressive mindset. If you support the dictatorship of majority then you support, in principle, the blasphemy laws of Pakistan, medieval governance system in the middle east, sinhala supremacy in Srilanka and a theocratic hindu nation in India. I can not much argue about it.

The way you guys are letting in Bangla muslims, I don't think it is possible without taking things into our own hands.

Please kick out these secular lunatics from your state. Tarun Gogoi has done enough damage to Assam in these years.

Most of my state is not thinking on this, but we will take measures if and when needed.
Though offtopic, make sure people in Assam dont vote to these so called pseudo secular gang of congress/tmc/etc. They will ruin the concept of India just mere to remain in power. They have deep rooted hate towards majority community and they can go to any extent to make India a civil war zone.

Coming from a minority community within minorities, I'm not sure how i can attest to that

But again why are we diverting from the subject matter ? Governments cant change peoples thought processes, Especially when they feel under threat.. what they can do is to address the causes for such fears

Which in this case is apparent to anybody who are acceptable to the facts

.
In the end extremists of both sides get stronger while innocent people from both sides suffer.
If people of races and religions open up and see whats really going on these things would not happen

Maybe these "researchers" need to ask why this violent turn by majority communities in these Buddhist majority nations ? What are the reasons Buddhists cannot afford to be pacifists anymore ?

After all it is reactionary, People react when they're under threat

Why this sudden rhetoric against Muslim communities are on the rise, Especially since only a decade and a half ago, Muslim communities that quite comfortably coexisted in these countries for eons ? Perfectly assimilated.. What changed since the early 2000's ?

Well i'm quite sure the answer lies there, It's not rocket science

These clashes are nothing new. As an outsider it may seem something new to you. But these communities arent living peacefully for over centuries. For some insight you have to grasp knowledge of Chittagong and Arakan. Historically there wasnt any decisive border of Chittagong with Arakan. As both were same, sometimes detached which was usual in old times. Many battles were fought in the porous region. Arakanese are known as Moghs in Bengal as notorious pirates. They were menace in the past. There were conflicts with the Mughal and Sultan with the Arakanese. Arakanese had conflict with the Burmese. And Burmese with the British. And last nail in the coffin was 1942 Arakan riot between the Rohingya community and Rakhines. Which started the tension between the Muslim and Buddhists.

Districts like Dhubri and Karimganj is Bangladesh in itself.

Dhubri and Karimganj was supposed to go with EP/EB. British awarded these to India to give corridor to Assam+Meghalaya and Tripura. They will be always like Bangladesh its no rocket science.
