How Obama swearing-in scuttled BrahMos missile’s test flight

yup i agree but read this article

it states that brahmos had only inertial navigation system before fitting the gps-glonass!!

India Modifies Brahmos Missile With New Nav System | Defense | RIA Novosti

so pls read article in post 15 and comment on ins vs gps-glonass

Article you posted is just a year old (2012) , above article you posted of glonass are from 2010 , Incident happened in 2009 , So glonass integration took place later , and likely now Brahmos features both glonass-Gps . Later even Indian .

Remember Army Has three Blocks of Brahmos .

but the article states brahmos had only inertial navigation system before

so then where does gps come into play??

Block-1 had inertial navigation system that i know , and Block-3 has Both GPS-GLONASS , i am not sure but may be Block-2 came with GPS only ?

But mate brahmos is india-russia jv!!

so why wouldn't there be a glonass antenna!!
news looks fake to me

Not necessarily. GLONASS was inoperational and down for quite along time. Quite a few of the Sats had failed even before the contellation was complete and the Russians did not even have the funds to replace them, apart from that some of the Russian sat launches had failed putting that program back majorly.
India has entered GLONASS primarily in the role of a "white knight", but the system is not fully operational now. The IRNSS system is a better bet for Indian needs.

The story above is credible. I have first-hand knowledge of how the GPS signals have been "dithered" on some other occasions also.

bastard americans

The missile team had a nasty surprise when the test-firing failed. On analysis, the reason was traced to an erroneous GPS calculation.

On detailed investigation, it was revealed that due to security reasons, the US had switched off GPS signals during the swearing-in ceremony.
:woot: So the world came to a grinding halt because of the swearing-in ceremony of Obama mama?? Jeeez! :undecided: :omghaha:

This article is genuine and the facts are correct. We should not doubt each and every thing coming out of our Scientists' mouth.

bastard americans

Why do you say that?
The Americans own and operate system, they have every right to do whatever they want with it! :)

I don't think they switched it off. No need to do that. They just introduce errors into the system, that is called "dithering the signal". Then you depend on the signals at your own peril. :D

I hope Brahmos has a backup guidance system because the GPS/ or any satellite signals, might not be available in an actual war.

bastard americans

Why, because THEY turned off THEIR system at THEIR convenience to safeguard THEIR interests?

If that arrangement is not satisfactory to somebody they should send up their own constellation of satellites, instead of badmouthing the people who's achievements they depend on. Usage of the GPS comes with that disclaimer. And it is perfectly reasonable too - when the americans are swearing in their president, who happens to be the most powerful and the most targeted human on earth, the very least they can do for his safety is to ensure that THEIR satellites are not used to target THEIR president. Badmouthing americans is the "cool" thing for most people to do, without bothering to think about the issue from any other perspective.

How would you feel if the IRNSS system is used by a foreign agency to attack the Indian PM when he is addressing the nation from the red fort?

Oh please. That was not what you wrote that post for. You wrote it in response capt.popeye's post about americans turning off or dithering GPS signals. And that is what the thread is about too, so don't insult anybody's intelligence by pretending that you made that post keeping in mind "killing millions of people worldwide". (Which is not true either, BTW...a few zeroes too many there.)

Sometimes it is easier to admit a mistake rather than making yourself look silly by pretending that you were talking of something else.
