Salam and Hello guys ...i have captured these pictures of m48 Patton tank in Islamabad. This tank is in very good shape then most of the Pakistani t55/59 tanks...So i wonder why this tanks standing there as a showpiece in front of army base rather then in service. I mean turkey is still using these tanks near syrian border and its doing great. So i wonder how many m48 patton tanks Pakistan have in reserve/storage...Can we overhaul and give them to FC Balochistan....No weapon is old as long as it fires..... Sorry for bad English:rolleyes:

. .
Turkey used upgraded ones, ours aren't coming back, the Type 59/69 stock is ample enough for such requirements.

.
M48 was more expensive to maintain and upgrade compared to more rugged type 59 which has been upgraded according to PA needs.

FC has Type 69.
M-48 were upgraded but facing the likes of T-72 was not preferable, thats why T-85 were inducted.

Understand the factor of commonality and numbers; As for Turkey, they have 700 M48 and 900 M60, which couldn't just be put aside and retired, so they were upgraded. PA had 1100 T-59 and T-69, which PA upgraded while 300 or so M-48 were retired.
