I agree. Since you live in HK what exactly happened in the 90s that caused HK series to become bad? I remember in the 80s hk series had the best theme songs and fight choreography...I think the Mainland show is the best, Taiwan is Second and HK ranks the last

I think you and TaiShang both are right. There are a lots of unsuccessful examples where they have to retreat back to HK. Also the mainland market is huge enough to have different kind of audiences, so luckily William Chan has a chance there. Since the Mainland is starting to develop, the sooner they go to the mainland market, the better chance they have; the more developed market, the more competition they face from the local talents.A big market also means a big pool of talent, which translates to greater competition. So I wouldn't say that it's easy to be successful there. Who knows that for every successful singer, there are 20 unsuccessful ones?
If you are talking about the TV drama, I would say that the monopoly of TVB causes the overall decline of the TV dramas. Also with the low pay from the TVB, many talents leave for the mainland market as the same case in the movie industry. Moreover, the taste of HK audiences have been changed, the HK house-wifes now like the topic of "爭產" or "fighting within a family" more. While the younger generation now have more choice to choose from, like from China, American and Korean. Furthermore, the power struggle among the factions in TVB also contributes to the casting of the less talented actors for their drama. However, I do believe that the HK drama is still better than the Taiwanese one, while the Taiwanese entertainment show is far better than the one from HK.I agree. As you mentioned the decline of the theme songs, I think this is because TVB has made enemies of the largest 4 music companies in HK, so TVB can only use their own staffs and singers for their songs, except from Emperor Group "英皇".
Really!! Is this because Taiwanese news are biased according to the background? So TVBS appears to be more neutral? BTW, I mean no disrespect.TVB (here it is TVBS) is probably the most popular news channel here.
We HK people like the cooking show more, and Taiwanese shows have many of them.their variety of programs are quite in high demand. I especially like their travel programs.
