China's success at handling COVID has nothing to do with medical facilities and more to do with the control its government can exercise in China and the obedience of her citizens. Same as Taiwan, S.Korea etc.

The culture is very different in the west. Of course the results in the US will have been very different if we had a leader at the helm that could convince people to follow the rules. Not a Trump perhaps an Obama or Reagan. Our people need to be galvanized into action and can't be coerced and forced as the Chinese government are able to do.

The US is at the forefront of medical breakthroughs the wealthy including Pakistani's and Chinese still flock here for medical treatment despite the outrageous cost, if they can afford it.

Here is a list of the top 100 hospitals in the world 2020. The US has more hospitals in the top 100, more than any other country in the world.

I used to prefer hanging around with people that I thought are powerful when I first left home to be independent. Those days I was broke and weak so hanging around with them did give me some validation and some self esteem boost that i couldn't get on my own but now I am in a more comfortable position, I prefer compatibility over power, wealth or whatever.

Let us first revisit the stats again and analyze in detail.

Infected : Death ratio reveals a rough picture about the effectiveness of health care facilities available in the respective countries. Apart from USA which has Infected : Death ratio slightly below the world average, other two western countries who were awarded 2nd and 3rd ranking in health care facilities in 2019, their Infected : Death ratio is higher than the world average.

I never stated that west do not have high tech health care facilities in my previous comment. But these facilities are best for known medical problems and diseases. Coronavirus was a surprise to them. Doctors and medical staff were not prepared to handle this emergency. Due to high influx of infected patients, the medical services crashed down even at well-known health care facilities.

You already highlighted the quarantine problem in the western countries and many countries in the east.

Nations of the world must prepare themselves to handle such surprises. Natural calamities and bio-weapon attacks are now the cruel realities. In order to fight back and survive these natural or man made calamities, strategic solutions should be worked upon so that these calamities do not become surprises and causes of panic. Not only relevant facilities must be enhanced but policies and corresponding legislations to handle such calamities should made.

You already highlighted weakness in US health care system. Businesses always focus on profit. Even good customer services are suppose to gain customer loyalty. These hospitals are only tuned and manned to take normal intake of known medical diseases. The calamities like coronavirus will be a surprise for these hospitals. Such surprise always cause panic and chaos. If you go thru the US statistics of number of deaths in April to May, you will realize that it was at peak (1200 to +2000 deaths per day). These were the starting months and infected patients influx was at peak. As of now the world lost +1 million precious human lives, out of these +20% are US citizens.

Every country has to review and learn lessons from this unfortunate calamity. These lessons will be different for each nation depending on various factors specific to that nation. Hence effective solutions must be found to minimize the effect.
