Meerut, Dec 7 (IANS) The body of an Afghan student who was murdered here two days ago was flown back to his home by his father Wednesday, police said.
Hamid, 25, a resident of Kabul, was a second-year BBA student of IIMT College at Ganga Nagar in Meerut.
Hamid's father Rafiullah, an Afghan Army officer who arrived here Wednesday, has taken his son's body back home, a police officer here said.
On Monday night, Hamid and another Afghan student, his classmate Nasir, were taking a walk when some unidentified assailants came in a car and fired at them.
Passersby rushed the two to a hospital, where Hamid was pronounced dead. Nasir was referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, where his condition is said to be critical.
'Prima facie, it seems to be a case of triangular love affair. A man named Faheem has been named in the FIR. Another boy, Robin's name has also surfaced during investigation. A case against Faheem and four other unidentified people has been registered at Inchauli police station,' Inspector General of Police (Meerut) Rajiv Krishna said.
Police said Hamid was in love with a woman named Monika, who was his classmate. But her relative Robin disapproved of her relationship with a foreigner.
Faheem was also said to be in love with Monika.
