Most of the examples cited are when people were not that culturally sensitive...I don't think the problem was if blackface was always an issue for white people, it is in the now (hence Megan Kelly was called out she said it was okay then so it is okay now -an extension of her Santa is white(and real?) If you are from the subcontinent then you would've seen a brown Santa as well . African Americans are influencers now and hence the culture has to cater to their sensitivities the same yardstick is being applied to Apu...even though the setting of the Simpsons haven't changed (including the caricatures. It was obviously not a representation of the average Indian family. Also, Eddie Murphy did a "white face" as a news reporter. Lol rachel dolezal was pretending to be black and was called out how is this NBC's fault.
