F-35B is very good for aircraft deck with limited space. No angle deck required to take off but deck must be able to handle jet thrust condition.

For what's fair, I think the US should target country like Indonesia,Japan, South Korea, Australia or Italy for a F-35B and LHD combo. For a mini-carrier set up, you can load 20 F-35B on a Wasp Class and if you are desperate, you can top it up with 40 F-35B for overflow deployment. Which still cost less than 1/10 of a Full blown supercarrier.

It will give a big boost to sea control capacity for the relevant countries.

Time will tell whether it's delicate enough for high tempo ops give so many mechanical function for it's size. But I have to admit getting F-35 operation is no easy feat. They are so many sophisticated function cramp into it. On top of the thrust down engine, it still need to spare internal weapon bay with reduced radar cross section in mind

Indeed, it's a technical marvel. It's aerodyanmic is far superior than harrier but I doubt it's better than F-16. Still , you can't take away the credit for it.

The problem is, you cannot take a F-16 on a LHD.

Notice that we are talking about a jeep carrier operation, not a fleet carrier, they are not supposed to do high tempo stuff, the only instant that happened is back in WW2, when the Taffy 3 Jeep Carrier group comes up with the big boy Battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. And still we have won that one.

But one thing for sure, it's not easy to get a F-35B working, that is probably the reason why it's still hasn't reach IOC yet.
