Help on my PhD choice

I guess you have limited who can access your profile.

I too am an MS aspirant. Applied for some US schools. Until now, got two admits and one wait list
Cool, which ones admitted?

For me, Minnesota is also almost done, just written assessment is left

A PhD is not something that is easy or should be taken lightly. It's something you try out for fun. At-least not in the good universities. You deal with failure and the high of novelty like a sine curve. It has lead to depression, anxiety, etc to name a few.

Do it if after a lot of consideration. This involves the time duration (at your age I'd suggest an MBA in systems rather than something like a PhD), choice of topic, University and your Prof and others guiding you. You cannot simply jump in to do a PhD in Computer Science without a solid background. It will quite literally eat you up.

Also, you should be getting paid for your PhD and not the other way around. It is akin to a job as a researcher.

I am trying to get into MFE. Got into NYU and Georgia Tech.

I support your view. After 35, PhD doesn't make much sense if you want to go into corporate. An MBA is a very good option

Awesome, me too trying for NYU badly, a problem with delay of one recommendation letter.

I went to NYU for my interview. The location is awesome, totally surrounded by Manhattan financial district.

lol, I don't work at this moment. I am still eating my pension from the military and my disability check so I don't literally have to work ever again. And being disabled, I have plenty of time on my hand.

I received my Bachelor of Science in International politic in 2000s and then spend a few year in the military. I got out and work for some intel firm as an analyst and then finally finished my Master in International Business in 2014. And now...

I have applied to teach at Swedish NCO school but was rejected last year. Therefore I want to try something new :)
well if you have the money to sit back and relax and are not financially dependent on the future job, then live life the way you want it to. you like computer science? you go do it then! if people tell you different then tell to stick their opinions. so what if it takes 1.5 years for the mphil +4 years for the phd. or do an mphil and then do the phd part time along with a relevant job. so your earning and learning and when your done your still earning, also if that happens your employer may pay for the phd. so all you need to do is if you can find an employer.

.
so what phd have you chosen?

also how come your retring/semi-retireing?
