Pak-India musical favourite Amjad Sabri was the main attraction at yesterday's event
Shaan-e-Pakistan seems to have come at an opportune time.

After much hullabuloo about perceived insults by movies and movie stars, here's an event that trying to bridge the gap between Pakistan and India, and it starts that effort with a tried-and-tested combination: good food and even better music.

'Aik Shaam Pakistan Kay Naam', the kick-off event to this three-day cultural expo taking place in New Delhi, treated its guests to a culinary feast prepared by Pakistani chef Gulzar and his Indian counterpart Osama Jalali, while Pak-India favourite Amjad Sabri delivered yet another soul-stirring qawwali performance.

In addition to Pakistani food and music, guests got a slight taste of Pakistani style yesterday, as the host Anoushey Ashraf cut an impressive figure in her Asifa and Nabeel ensemble:

And Javed Sheikh, seen below with the lovely Salma Agha, upped the celebrity quotient of the event when he dropped by:

The three-day event, which is organised by Huma Nassr whose label Braahtii has stores both in Karachi and New Delhi, aims to foster a more cordial relationship between the neighbouring countries for better trade in the future. A fashion show and two-day exhibition is now taking place, and a week-long Pak-India food festival is also on the cards at Eros Hotels.

This video of Atif Aslam and Sonu Nigam performing together will blow you away

Atif Aslam and Sonu Nigam are two irreplaceable powerhouses when it comes to singing and their latest live performance paying tribute to music legends of India and Pakistan will give you goosebumps.

The two united to perform at a packed arena in Dubai on Thursday night.

The crowd was left mesmerised when the two took the stage to perform a duet. They began their act by singing iconic ghazal Hothon Se Chhu Lo Tum by Jagjit Singh.

The two also crooned timeless tunes of Mohammad Rafi and Reshma. Sonu looked overwhelmed when Atif took the limelight.

Atif worked his magic on Mohammad Rafi’s popular song Din Dhal Jayefrom the 60s hit film Guide.

The audience quietly swayed to the tunes as Sonu proceeded with Reshma’s famous song Lambi Judai.

Their duet definitely hit the jackpot and had everyone bewitched. The two singers crooned popular 70s track Kya Hua Tera Wada — originally sung by Mohammad Rafi for film Hum Kisise Kum Naheen.

Earlier at a press conference, both singers claimed that they stand united to promote peace between India and Pakistan and are against the ongoing ban policies.

They believe that people of the two countries should “leave politics for those who play the game”.

“There should never be any lines or demarcations in the creative field. Art and music transcend such petty politics,” said Atif at a press conference.

“Which is why both, Sonu and myself, we are united in our decision to perform together, as one unit. Audiences in Dubai will not be seeing two solo concerts on one stage tonight; they will see us performing largely together as a tribute to India and Pakistan,” he added.

Music touches soul and not mind, hence borders doesnt matter to it.
If properly advertised and organized in India then young Indian crowd will surely attend.

And India is to diverse to call India is obsessed with bollywood music. Its just that bollywood is advertised more hence you see it on more channels and lot many people know about.
But regional music also has very important role
Like Punjabi music in northern India, Bhojpuri in UP, Marwadi in Rajasthan, Bengali Music in Bengal and Assam
South Indian states have there on style and languages. On top of all this we have a group that follows classical while other modern gen follows the western Rock.

When diplomats fail.... music brought two countries togather..... Great!
