MANSEHRA: Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Sunday promised to declare Hazara division a province if the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) won the forthcoming general elections.
He said the people of Hazara division supported Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its chief Nawaz Sharif in the past, but he didnt respect the Hazarawals. Nawaz Sharif signed the 18th Amendment providing legal cover to renaming the erstwhile North West Frontier Province (NWFP). This move was aimed at removing the hurdle in the way to become the prime minister for the third time, he claimed.
I am not Sharif. I am a Chaudhry, who submits his will to Allah and His people. We would give the province status to Hazara division, if our party came into power. I know your forefathers. They rendered great sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan, the PML-Q leader told the participants of a public meeting here.
The deputy prime minister said that no political party would be able to gain majority in the upcoming general elections to be held after three months. The polls are going to be held after three months, but no party would be able to gain majority single-handedly, he claimed.
He announced the regularisation of services of 4,000 contract employees of the Utility Store Corporation (USC).
Pervaiz Elahi urged the party workers to gird up their loins and reach out to the voters in every nook and corner of the country. He said some politicians were making claims about securing majority in the next general elections. Dont get discouraged or pay attention to such hollow claims, he told his party workers. He said the PML-Q was in contact with the religious parties to enter into an electoral alliance. We have formed electoral alliance with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and are in contact with other political parties as well. It would be a major breakthrough for us, if we succeeded in doing so, he hoped.
The deputy prime minister promised to provide free education and healthcare facilities to the people if his party came into power. He said those areas in Mansehra without natural gas would soon be provided the facility and a passport office would shortly be opened in the district.
He appreciated the new office-bearers of PML-Q Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter and said those, who had quit the party, were rejoining it due to the efforts of its provincial leadership.
Earlier, in his welcome address PML-Q provincial President Syed Qasim Shah said the mammoth gathering had proved that the PML-Q was the mother of all political parties and it would soon reclaim its lost glory.
Federal Minister Shaikh Waqas, Minister of State for Technical and Professional Education Sardar Shahjahan Yousaf, and PML-Q office-bearers Sardar Mohammad Yousaf, Tariq Khan Swati, Shahzada Gustasap Khan and Amanullah Khan Jadoon also addressed the gathering.
They claimed the PML-Q would sweep the next general election in Hazara and people would now teach a lesson to the PML-N and its leadership over betraying the people of Hazara.
Hazara destined to become a province, says Pervaiz Elahi - thenews.com.pk
