I was going to go to India with some other female friends in March, but after seeing all these reports of rape, sexual assault, etc we are reconsidering our trip.

We are 3 females who planned this trip at the start of the year, but we are now reconsidering whether to go to India.

Should we cancel the trip and go to a safer country?

Are we being stupid for thinking about cancelling our trip?

Let me be blunt: Donot go.....Change has started, but would take another 15-20 years before female travellers on their own feel completely safe in India. Not every country in the world can be pre-2016 Germany overnight

It depends on where you want to go and what you want to do.

And if you feel like it's not safe. Please don't :)

Not a good idea to go, I recalled seeing a news that a female traveler got abducted, rape and then murdered. This website gives advise for women traveling to India and looking at the large amount of advise it's a good idea to change countries.

It depends where you going to travel in India. If you feel not safe then don’t. Your trip should be comfortable not on suspesions

So you are a female? Let me give you some advice. After all, a Muslim can't let his cousin walk into danger that would be cruel even though the cousin acts obnoxious most of the time:) The only time you should visit this country is with a man. The local population will be eyeing you up like a piece of candy and will most likely sexually grope you at some point in your trip. There are hundreds of articles and videos on Youtube which can verify my claim. This outcome is the least worse off scenario. The worse outcome is being raped and then killed. These words may sound crude and harsh but I would rather give you sound advice to secure your safety than lying to you about the true reality of India. When you have a man with you they would think twice even then this doesn't deter them in some cases. I don't want to label every Indian as a sexual predator but this problem is real. Why don't you take a trip to China? You won't face the same problem and there is so much to explore.

I think you should visit. India is a Western ally against China. Your countries provide jobs and sell weapons to India.

You will live the smell of India.

Do not come to India if you have apprehension about security...India is not a western world for sure..
