HAL To License-Build 147 Ka-226T 'Hoodlum' Light Multirole Helicopters - 50 To Be Sourced Directly

No!
It is difficult for even the Mi17 V5 to lift it at those heights!
The Ka226T itself weights as much as the gun (MTOW<3500T)
Ka 226 T is a modular heli system it can easly lift 3.8 tonne minus its interchangeable mission pods.

No.
The Dhruv (A bigger chopper) has a payload of <3T at Sea Level.
It can carry ~500Kg at 6000m.

In Siachen, Dhruv proves a world-beater | Business Standard News
This chopper may carry about a 100Kg payload to Siachen.
OK sir thanks for telling me im no defnce expert but still it can easly transport more army jawans and there battle gear to required destinations than LAH and can take off & land in tight spots deu to its compact dimensions & coaxial rotor design it can lift more wieght and has no tail rotor which is often the main culprit for accidents in such tarrain

What they really mean is

They will discuss possible purchase for 5 years

Indian fan boys will cream themselves

DRDO will declare they can make a indigenous alternative

Another 5 years will be wasted on studies to come up with indian indigenous alternative

Indian fan boys will cream themselves again

They will declare that the indigenous indian supercopter is infact 70% foreign made parts and not very good

Indian military will be hesitant to induct latest indian indigenous super-lemon

Indian fan boys will damn the military as being corrupt and in love with foreign maal

Hindutva politicians will step in and reduce the order to 30 off the shelf helicopters and declare that the indigenous indian super copter will be bought in massive numbers incorporating vedic technology (from swed3n or russia)

Indian fan boys will cream themselves
its a sign of good going when your enemy nation thinks about you like that isnt it SIR ? :azn:

I'm not in support of this chopper.
Considering the excellent Hi Alt . performance of the Dhruv and HAL's track record with choppers, the LUH will be a better option.
The Cheetahs/A3(Which still holds the Hi Alt flight record, IIRC) can be kept in service for two more years with ease.

but LUH wont be avilable at least for 4 more years at best what should be done till then we need these helis now and the biggest asset of these helis is tailor made for owr envoirment (coaxial rotor, compact dimensions and inter changeable pod system)lets have a few of them and build owr infra till LUH comes along

Russian Helicopters announces new Ka-226T receives IAC AR certification
Quote:
Russian Helicopters (part of State Corporation Rostec) announces that it has received Additional Type Certification from the Interstate Aviation Committee's Aviation Register (IAC AR) for the light multirole Ka-226T helicopter. Receiving additional certification opens up opportunities for the delivery and operation of the basic model of this helicopter.

'Certification of the Ka-226T is the result of the great efforts made by the aircraft designers and producers,' said Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev. 'I am confident that the Ka-226T will find its niche on the light helicopter market.'

The Ka-226T was developed by Kamov design bureau and is a development in the Ka-26, Ka-126, and Ka-226 light helicopter series. These helicopters were produced by Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise. Special models of the Ka-226 are in service with the Russian armed forces and are still produced. The Ka-226T will also be produced at Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise.

The certified model boasts French Turbomeca Arrius 2G1 FADEC engines. This is the first instance of Arrius 2G1 engines being installed on a coaxial helicopter. The Ka-226T is also equipped with new reduction gear and the latest avionics. The design solutions applied in the construction of this helicopter make it safer, reduce its environmental impact, and improve its operational efficiency.

Thanks to the new engines, the helicopter is 20% more powerful, and boasts a significantly greater cruising speed. The Ka-226T is certified under transport category A, which indicates increased flight safety. In emergencies, if an engine fails, the helicopter can continue flying and also land. Its upgraded avionics suite can perform instrument-enabled flights, in which the helicopter's location, position, and flight parameters are determined by on-board equipment.

Outstanding controllability and the latest navigation equipment mean that the Ka-226T is easy to manoeuvre in dense, built-up, urban environments and mountainous areas. The absence of a tail rotor and compact size mean that it can land in small spaces. This helicopter does not need to be stored in a hangar, which is another feature expanding its range of use away from base. During the certification tests, the Ka-226T confirmed that it boasts an excellent main rotor system, and outstanding altitude and manoeuvrability characteristics.

The prototype Ka-226T successfully underwent tests in India during a helicopter tender process that was later withdrawn by the Indian government last year. This helicopter performed flights in India's hot, mountainous areas, and consistently out-performed its western-made competition. During flight tests in the Himalayas, the Ka-226T acheived an altitude of 7,200 metres.

In 2013, the Ka-226T demonstrated its versatility in Kazakhstan. It was rated highly by representatives of the Republic's emergency situations ministry and law enforcement agencies, who tracked the helicopter's flight performance when carrying cargo using an external sling and winch. The Ka-226T also carried out a flight, hover, and landing at 2,500 metres to evacuate the sick and injured. One of the Ka-226T's unique achievements in the light helicopter class is its operational ceiling of 7,500 metres.

Even though I would like all 400 to be HAL LUH ,

It will be nice to receive 30kamov + 30luh choppers every year

Second Sad part is HAL will do the manufacture of both :hitwall:

Why private player is not made mandatory ? Why not create a HAL competitor ?

Tata has some experience with choppers..

Actually, ALH Dhruv was never deigned to used in such high altitudes - The ambitious requirements given in the ASR and NSR were for a common base platform capable of performing a sweeping range of roles at altitudes ranging from sea level to 6 km (19,500 ft) Pressure Altitude, at high temperatures. The roles for the Army-IAF variants included a contentious requirement for a high altitude landing at 6 km Pressure Altitude with payload of 200 kg plus a large fuel load.

Though ALH Mk-III with upgraded Shakti engines has exceptional high altitude performance. It exceeds the original ASR high-altitude payload-cum-landing requirement at 6 km altitude at high temperatures and is perhaps the only helicopter in existence worldwide in this AUW class category that can fulfil the requirement. Dhruv Mk.3 even flew to an altitude of 27,500 feet (8,400 m) ASL in Siachen. Mk-I and Mk-II aren't that capable.

The problem is as already mentioned - it's too large to operate from many forward HLZ's which are too close to adversary posts - as close as just 3000 meters and can be targeted.

Uh yes it was..................................How did Army place a req for 200kgs to Sanam if it wasn't so? Also please stop copy-pasting your arguments.

Even Mk-1 was flown to 27000 ft by Wg Cdr Upadhyay. Also keep in mind that this was the original engine for Dhruv
LHTEC T800 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Its more powerful, lighter/smaller than even Shakti

The problem is an opinion based on other opinions. Please post the name of such bases. where Dhruv is inoperable.

so it can easyli transport a M777 gun (3450Kgs) to forward positions on higher reaches of himalyas now thats interesting :)
:cuckoo:
Are you feeling okay. Its max payload is only 1500kgs underslung. 3800 is the MTOW.

The first LUH prototype will fly in August, officially kickstarting flight test. HAL aims for final operational clearance in 2017, and begin deliveries to the Indian Army and IAF by the end of that year.
Unfortunately with the track record of our public sector bodies, you will have to assume a 2-3 year slippage at least, and we cannot afford to wait till 2020 to start replacing our 60s era choppers.
